I haven't felt this bored since vanilla D2
Like the title says, I haven't been this bored with D2 in years. The portal just rehashes the same handful of activities over and over, despite the base game still possessing dozens of strikes, crucible modes, Gambit, im stuck playing the same things over and over because its the only way to get meaningful loot. Not to mention im forced to only play the hardest content if I want worthwhile rewards which gets old especially if im just farming resources to upgrade.
I absolutely hate how im locked out of using all my old gear because if I do then im penalized by taking more damage and dealing less plus my reward multiplier gets chunked causing you to get less and weaker rewards despite a lack of weapons in the current game. The New/Featured gear mechanic NEEDS TO GO ASAP!!!!
The power leveling system feels awful and punishing especially if you like to play all 3 characters. Not to mention the cost to upgrade and item you haven't used in a while is ridiculous and often I find myself farming weak gear just so I can infuse the item I want up to my current power.
While the tier system is cool it makes me view anything below T4 or T5 as a place holder to be deleted later.
Exotic armors feel left behind, mainly the new ones since they lack artifice slots and seem to only be locked at T3 levels.
I hate how everything is tied to power levels which locks you out of a lot of content until you reach a threshold, and adds a lot of weird thresholds were your too strong for base content, but too weak for higher content and need to be carried until you reach a higher level.
Vendors feel useless now and somehow EoF made the whole game feel less rewarding overall. Plus RNG is super annoying given you now rely 100% on it for new weapons.
Its annoying the cooldown times for abilities are no longer shown till that ability is equipped, despite different melees and grenades still having slower or faster cooldowns. Same for supers.
The game has taken too much of a shift towards single player activities which has caused the game to lose its soul. Solo destinations feel boring and the fact that solo ops is the best way to level feels boring.
In its current stare D2 feels a like a mobile phone gotcha game where your only meant to login for a couple hours each day before you run out of stuff to do and need to wait for the next reset.
At this point im certain the bungie higher ups are intentionally trying to crash the game now that Sony has taken over.
Bungie if your listening you need to fix this before Renegades drops. Especially by removing the New/Featured gear mechanic which seems like sunsetting light.

My gf and I are basically punished for wanting to play/grind levels together instead of splitting up and running solo ops on our own. We figured we’d just take the hit, because we’d rather have fun running stuff together than just grind caldera by ourselves, even if it’s more efficient for the arbitrary number we need for some reason.

If before I used to jump in to weekly ones to help folks, now I don’t feel like this anymore. I’ve played for 2 weeks in a very lazy fashion, reached level 300, got through campaign, got to level 103 on my pass and simply stopped playing. I also only started playing when they finally fixed the audio issues on PS5. There is a lot of better games nowadays. I never played Forza Horizon since I was always on PlayStation. Now I am having a blast grinding H5 instead on my PS5. Also my Friends who only play on Xbox will finally be able to play Helldivers 2 on August 26, so I will definitely play that and show new recruits what Democracy is about:) Just going to put them in to Super Helldive right away so they get all the difficulties unlocked and get PTSD. This is amazing that’s there is no longer hardware walls on this great games and everyone can enjoy them:) Anyway, bungo and their absolutely ridiculous decisions can go somewhere else with their business. My wallet is forever closed for them. I will only return during ash of iron, get my pass rewards, play a little and bounce out again until renegades comes out. They also made me feel like a moron preordering the year of prophecy. That I will not forgive, so not a single penny will be spent on their game. If you feel burned out from Destiny, go play something else. Don’t torture yourself with this garbage. Cheers and I wish you a great rest of the weekends;)

2 RepliesI haven't touched the game since the last season, nothing about it interests me anymore. I MIGHT get the dlc later when/if it goes on sale, but at the same time I most likely won't cause there are other games that I'm looking forward to playing. About the only thing I'm curious about is the story, but I can easily just look it up on youtube

You can add to this how horrible is to level up the gear of your other characters because the game take the highest light level in count so your characters with low light level will have to be dragged through low level activities always getting a C/C+ score because of it, and the loot for them will be trash and scarce, making the whole process a complete pain. The person who created this grade system needs to resign and never work in video games again.

Came back after about a year of not really dedicating time to this game, had a bit of fun, but then realized how bad the light leveling system was after a while. Now i just log on to see if Caldera is the featured solo op, if its not i just log back off again. Tried to motivate myself to do some pinnacle runs and whatnot, but i just get so friggin bored and end up just hitting the old alt+f4.

[/quote] To add to this, matchmade version of fireteam ops is significantly harder than what you actually need to hit A rank using custom modifiers while also somehow being harder to actually hit A. Sure I could lfg using custom modifiers but it's not like any of these are actually that hard to solo at -20. Im over 410 power and only need a B+ to get max rewards. That means I can OVERLEVEL GM CONTENT with almost zero modifiers to likely get better loot than doing a matchmade version at -40 with butt loads of modifiers. Ive seen a lot of people complain that the game has gotten a lot harder for them, especially at the higher difficulty levels. But as someone who has done mostly custom modifier missions, it's been the exact opposite experience for me. There's a huge discrepancy between matchmade and custom modifier content that will push people away from each other and it's killing the game for me.

We now have a reason to care about the same perks because they have the new gear buffs. Before this updated loot, there was even less reason to care about loot. A tier 2 or 3 god roll is better than that same god roll on a pre edge of fate weapon. I got a tier 3 crucible solar rocket sidearm with the same perks aberrant had. It's better with the new gear buffs.

2 RepliesI was actually grateful that a friend of mine asked me to come farm Encore. I was, and still am, utterly sick of Solo Ops. The same four -blam!--ing activities over and over and over and over and over and over… well you get the idea… and over and over and over and over and over again. Absolutely -blam!--ing boring. And I haven’t even been serious about the grind, and I’m utterly sick of it already. I was supposed to get on and do the solstice event on my Warlock and Hunter. What is the point though? So I can do more grinding in The Portaloo? I know that by doing this it will lessen the grind on my other two characters, but at this point I’ve had enough and don’t care. I’m going to bed and starting tomorrow I’m looking for another game to play. I really love this franchise but this is not any fun at all, it’s barebones crap and worse than D2 Vanilla. At least we had lots of new places to explore in D2 Vanilla.

Future of this franchise, difficult to see it is! Changes to make they have! Do or Do not; there is no try! Devs must take this to heart or the franchise will die slowly. To do nothing and stay the the current course is to choose, and all choices are hard. Being overweight is hard, working out to loose weight is hard. Bungie is faced with the choice of making the game more rewarding, more engaging, and fun for the bulk of the player base, OR continuing on the path of harder is better, more grind is better, few players is better. Bungie will make a choice, the first MAY save the game, recognizing they may not bring back lost players. The second is not working and has not worked since inception, so continu8ing this route will only continue to drive players away from the game.

I will give it to them, there are some good things that have come with this updates as far as build crafting flexibility, but everything else just feels so punishing and dreary it literally negates any benefits and positive implementations that the season brought.

100% agree. So many bad ideas/systems forced on players in this expansion. Seems like they only want to increase metrics like time players play for their stockholders or something. Little to no care/regard for the players.

You're doing extremely well for someone who's never been as bored, running 3 characters,all over 400, playing every day, playing lots of different activities. You're giving the impression to bungie that you love the grind
