My Thoughts on the Destiny Franchise
I've been playing this game since Destiny 1 launched, and one thing that has consistently disappointed me over the years is the amount of content Bungie has removed. This was done both indirectly, by creating a new game in Destiny 2, and directly, through sunsetting and the removal of planets, expansions, and the original Destiny 2 campaign. My take is:
- Bring back all of this content and transform Destiny 2 into "Just Destiny." As a live-service game, a new player should be able to experience the entire story as a cohesive whole. It would be great to make all of the D1 content free-to-play so that people can truly enjoy the game before spending money on it. It just feels awkward to remove content from an MMO looter-shooter.
- Make the power grind a little easier after 400. After that mark, you really have to rely on a 5% chance to get one powerful gear drop. WHY? It's frustrating to do that for 50 more power. It feels terrible to have to grind for a month or more just to start getting the real grind for gear you actually want.
- Stop resetting our Power level. Instead, make it so our Power increases every season or DLC.
- Remove the system that forces us to play with new gear. This just feels like "sunsetting 2.0." The grind already feels like a job, and grinding just because it's an obligation to get new gear is a bad feeling. We should be encouraged to use new gear because it's good, not because we can't use our old gear anymore.
We've got so many good new features in Edge of Fate, please don't kill your game now, Bungie! Listen to the community!
I've forgotten what else I was going to say, so this is where my thoughts stand for now. I'd appreciate hearing your opinions on this, or any additions you might have. Please be respectful.
