Is the latest dlc worth buying for a solo non clan player?

As the title suggests, I'm a solo player that's not part of a clan, I've bought every dlc up until now as I used to play with a few friends. Is the dlc worth grabbing for a solo player?

  • Spend that $40 on a game that respects your time more.

  • Absolutely not. Don't buy it. Find a fun game and play that.

  • Give free to play a try, if you don't enjoy it you haven't wasted any money. 👍

  • Log in now without buying EoF... it will launch you into the "intro" mission on Kepler... after you complete it, you'll have access to "The Portal" and all the Portal armor & weapons (not Kepler gear tho)... the Portal is where you'll be spending most of your time anyway, whether you own EoF or not... specifically in "Solo Ops" as it is the most efficient way to level up. You dont need EoF for this. You just need the stomach to grind the same missions over & over... and over again. I recommend you just play the Portal for 2 weeks, and see if the grind is bearable. If it goes smoothly & you'd like to see what the gear (& story) is like from Kepler, then buy EoF & do the campaign on Legendary for the exotic armor. Absolutely no reason to do it on easy mode.

  • I'm 450 totally solo, but depends what you like playing. Campaign isn't great, it's long & several missions are the same missions you've done, but back to front. You mainly play in portal & thats all free so I'd say play for free, wish I had.

  • I’m playing a lot recently but did not buy the expansion… I have some time on my hands but still don’t think it’s worth buying this dlc even with the discount now on PSN.

  • The grind after the campaign can be a bit irritating due to some of the maodifiers but overall, if you can get it at a good price, I would say it has alot of reasonable solo content IMO.

    • Dunno I made it just fine to 400 by playing by myself and using LFg, no clan needed. All I did was caldera ops and use the LFG for things that required people

Noooo. Leveling is actively harder without a clan.

      • Short answer no. Longer answer: even if you had a clan and friends to play with the answer is still no. It's actually worse playing with more people right now as opposed to solo. The payed content is so miniscule it's not worth it. All of the system changes were free so you can experience those without buying the DLC.

        • I'm a Solo and not in a clan. I preordered the game but took my time and had recently finished it. In between missions, I levelled through through Portal activities and the Events. I did the campaign on Brave- story and missions were decent. Matterspark is annoying but once done it's not a major concern. After campaign, you can match with other players to replay a random mission. Every hour and a half there's a horde-like activity called The Sieve with some sweet rewards. I got Euonia and I didn't play legendary. There are also some solo activities and Kepler is a place to explore and unlock chests. If you don't get it now then maybe during a sale time.

        • I personally enjoyed the story. Now that being said, it depends on if you want to spend the money, or wait for a sale. I would do some research and see if you think it's worth the full price or not. Side note, the mechanics in the campaign can be very annoying on the first playthrough, after that, you know what to do and where to go.

        • It’s not bad. The story is fairly solid if you’ve been paying attention to plot lines or anything. Campaign missions are fairly challenging and pretty much on par with Lightfall and Witch Queen (and slightly easier than Final Shape) Kepler is a solid locale (though I wish they used a slightly different tone for the dirt there - the use of grey tends to muddy up the art a bit). It can be a bit underutilized post-campaign. World tiers are a neat idea. The Sieve is a fairly good matchmade activity. It’s nothing groundbreaking but it checks a lot of the boxes. It can be a bit of a slog if your teammates are potatoes tho. The rest are all F2P.

All this stuff is honestly going to be most enjoyed if you play solo and take your time. Rewards from the campaign and side quests is lackluster. Narratively it’s all quite good though. Post campaign there is a mission playlist, secrets around the destination, two higher difficulties to play, two armor set variants and a set of guns. The expansion has 5 exotics. An armor piece for an each class, exotic hand cannon form a post campaign quest and a raid exotic rocket launcher. The raid is very good, but has issues with incentives to play it while tier 5s are time gated behind the epic raid release in a month. Edge of fate is a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. It’s a very free to play friendly annual update overall though. A lot of the best parts about this year are completely free, as the game got a big makeover.

        • I have a lazy metric for "worth." The federal minimum wage in the US is $7.25/hr, Edge of Fate is currently on sale for $28, so I'd need to get at least four hours of fun/play time out of EoF to make it "worth" buying, and yeah, I got at least ten hours out of the campaign. Lazy math aside, I think the campaign is pretty good, I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the location, and most of the gameplay is really solid (Some of the early matterspark puzzles are tedious, but as the puzzles get more complex they get more fun, in my opinion.) The Legendary campaign is tough as nails, but what else is new? For a solo player, yeah, I think it's a worthwhile investment, especially since EoF is on sale right now. The campaign is robust, to say the least, I liked it, not everyone did, but I liked it. Pro-tip: Try to resist the urge to open every chest at the first opportunity, chests don't respawn but do scale, so it's better to leave them till the end of the campaign, if you can harness the patience.
