[Petition to Bungie] Changes to Prime Engrams - Having to go to the Tower

Petition to Bungie: I don't know any other way to try and get this community message to Bungie other than posting on their forums and seeing how many we can get to upvote it until it can't be ignored. Players that agree, please click the up vote button on the left side of the post and or comment with your thoughts and any additional analysis you may have done. Please share this link to your fellow D2 players to do the same. Request: Bungie, please do not implement the requirement to Travel to Rahool to decrypt Prime Engrams. Secondarily, please do not change the +3 to +2 for Primes from 450-500 TLDR: The change impacts players time to level without an appreciable change in Quality of Life. Also, +2 Prime from 450-500 just kills it for casual gamers. Just tell us to settle for being a 400-450 character and set the standard if that is the desire. The recent TWID announced that due to some people not being able to manage their loot when it drops, they are going to require everyone to go to the tower to decrypt them from Rahool. This adds time to and from the tower in between Missions while leveling. Assessing myself, this will add about 3 hours of just Zoning in time per 50 levels (i.e. 350-400, then 400-450). And when Prime’s drop from +3 to +2 from 450-500, that is +5 hrs to the grind. I have accidentally deleted prime drops since EoF launched, about twice and each time, I realized…that was my fault for going to fast. It is super easy to see which ones are your higher light gear. People can learn from their mistakes and this can be self correcting. If you want “fan faire” then add a bright gold glow effect to the item box in the inventory that lasts unto you scroll over it to help highlight it. That would be a quality of life update, NOT making everyone fly to the tower. I ran some Monte Carlo simulations (see below) based on my own play times and the rules for Primes as best as I can see them. I understand that this does not account for some powerful engram drops that will help, but I feel the times I put in are overly conservative because for normal players, your not just running this straight through so there is additional times to setup mission parameters and re-adjust for various reasons/needs. Also load times are super conservative as depending on the time of day it can be worse. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Destiny 2 Power-Leveling Assessment Summary Report \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Setup & Input Assumptions • Goal: Gain +50 displayed Power levels from a uniform baseline (all 8 slots start equal). • Displayed Power: floor(average of 8 equipped slots). • Slots (8): Kinetic, Energy, Heavy, Helmet, Gauntlets, Chest, Legs, Class Item. • Prime engram behavior (core rule): Each Prime upgrades one random slot to (current displayed Power + bonus) if that slot is below that value; otherwise it has no effect on that slot (duplicate hits can “waste” a Prime). • Mission loop: o Duration: 8 minutes per mission (playtime only) [Conservatism: Total Cycle time includes zone in/zone out times, with quick checks on Mission Parameters, this is pretty efficient and does not fully represent most casual players]. o Prime drops per mission: 1 with p = 2/3, 2 with p = 1/3 (mean 1.3333 per mission). o When Tower trips are enabled: add +1.5 minutes after every mission (one trip even if 2 Primes dropped) [Conservatism: Based on running to tower tracked on average during MORNING playtime….Evenings will make this worse] • Processing order: If 2 Primes drop in a mission, they are applied sequentially and the second sees the updated displayed Power after the first. • Scope limits: No soft/hard caps, no Powerful/Pinnacle sources, no focusing, no mid-run gear shuffling; purely the Prime process above. • Statistics: Large Monte Carlo runs (≥100,000 trials) reporting mean, median, and 5th–95th percentile. Methodology (What the simulation does) 1. Track all 8 slot values explicitly. 2. After each mission, roll 1 or 2 Primes (per the 2/3–1/3 split). 3. For each Prime, compute displayed = floor(avg of 8), then set one random slot to displayed + bonus if it’s lower. 4. Repeat missions until the displayed Power has increased by +50 from the start. 5. Convert missions to time using either 8:00 (no Tower) or 9:30 (with Tower) per mission. 6. Aggregate outcomes across trials. Runs & Results Run A — Baseline “+3 Prime”, No Tower trips What’s different here: Prime bonus = +3, no post-mission Tower time. • Missions (mean / median / 5th–95th): 119.3 / 119 / 105–136 • Time @ 8:00/mission (mean / median / 5th–95th): 15h 54m / 15h 52m / 14h 00m–18h 08m • Implied Primes needed (mean): ~158.7 (≈ 3.17 Primes per level) Run B — “+3 Prime”, With Tower trips What’s different: Same as Run A plus +1.5 min Tower trip after every mission. • Missions (mean / median / 5th–95th): 119.3 / 119 / 105–136 (unchanged) • Time @ 9:30/mission (mean / median / 5th–95th): 18h 53m / 18h 51m / 16h 38m–21h 32m • Tower overhead added (mean): ~2h 59m Run C — “+2 Prime”, No Tower trips What’s different: Prime bonus reduced to +2, no post-mission Tower time. • Missions (mean / median / 5th–95th): 199.2 / 199 / 179–221 • Time @ 8:00/mission (mean / median / 5th–95th): 26h 33m / 26h 32m / 23h 52m–29h 28m • Implied Primes needed (mean): ~265.3 (≈ 5.31 Primes per level) Run D — “+2 Prime”, With Tower trips What’s different: Same as Run C plus +1.5 min Tower trip after every mission. • Missions (mean / median / 5th–95th): 199.2 / 199 / 179–221 (unchanged) • Time @ 9:30/mission (mean / median / 5th–95th): 31h 32m / 31h 31m / 28h 21m–35h 00m • Tower overhead added (mean): ~4h 59m ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// p.s. Yes, I know I could have gained approximately 10 levels in the time it took me to do this, but I wanted to try and help the community voice that feel the same way to have a place to be heard.
