To preface, this is NOT a call to arms or an attempt at any sort of aggression. If anything, it's the encouragement of the complete opposite in the hopes of actual change.
Listen, this is a crazy longshot... and it seems silly to even think of this reaching a bigger audience, but who knows. At worst case, I get drowned out by other posts and laughed at, so screw it.
Whether this reaches one person or the entire community, I hope you can give me a few minutes and hear me out.
I know I'm just one dude trying to reach out to a billion-dollar industry's community. But to me, and probably a lot of you, Destiny is more than that.
It's more than a stomping ground for cash grabs, mismanaged player retention attempts, and maximized profit gains all at the cost of player enjoyment.
At it's core, Destiny is a beautiful world filled with complex life sprinkled throughout the cosmos.
A world with a true potential as limitless as the universe it takes place in.
And yet, for most players (the ones that still play), our day-to-day is spent regretting our experience more than enjoying it.
It's gotten to the point where I'm truly convinced the launch bug is the travelers' last ditch effort to spare our endorphins.
But I think most of you would agree that this game's potential is truly MASSIVE if you think about it.
And yet poor corporate decisions, along with a lot of other factors that I'm sure we're not aware of, have turned this game into something that 14 yr old me would have NEVER imagined.
I had more fun staying up until 2am on a school night just to see what Xur had in his arsenal for that week back in D1 then I have had doing some seasonal content in D2. And while that may be an unfair comparison, it's still speaks volumes in my experience.
I don't know the true complexity behind game development, or the hierarchy of leadership that controls it, but I do know this game at its core from a player standpoint, and I'm TIRED of seeing this game's potential be avoided or missed entirely for one reason or another. And I know a vast majority of you are too.
But I'm certain that if we as a community don't rally together, nothing will change.
At the end of the day, we ALL want a mutually acceptable outcome:
For the players and devs: A fun, complex experience that's enjoyed and positively received by most.
For the Company: A profitable investment that makes shareholders and higher-ups alike happy.
But we only reach that goal if we truly work together, company and community.
This community has no shortage of opinions, but the general consensus of what will improve the game is widely agreed upon by most, but for reasons unknown, it hasn't come to fruition.
So then lets take action, because NOTHING changes if our attempts at helping don't change.
I typed this novel to ask just one request of the community, especially the content creators.
Let's BOYCOTT the Epic Raid!
GENERAL COMMUNITY: I'm not talking about running solo ops instead of contest, I mean cold hard stop. Like don't even log in for as long as contest is active (ideally longer)
CONTENT CREATORS: Communicate amongst each other and come up with an effective, creative, community friendly method of protest. I know it's harder for you all since you rely on this for income, but think of the potential gain, both monetary and community, from helping mold this game into one fueled by true community/Company cooperation.
AT WORST CASE, it's a massive waste of time for you and keyboard actuations for me.
AT BEST CASE, we actually incite change and cooperation.
It's worth the risk if you ask me.
I know it sounds stupid, silly cringe, whatever you wanna call it. But we as a community decide if Destiny lives or dies, not them.
Believe it or not, WE have the ability to make this game everything we dream of.
We just need to be heard. And regardless of what you think of the community managers, they can only do so much.
So if you read this far, thank you.
Thank you for caring as much as I do, and lets see what happens.

Edited by ExpertPaper4854: 8/25/2025 3:37:51 PMAnother thing you forgot to mention are the cheaters Those people are going to ruin the raid experience and its been a problem for a very long time

Just wanted to say thanks for using paragraphs. but yeah… I organically boycotted both the epic raid and the normal raid due to the fact that none of my friends play anymore and this raid just isn’t LFG-friendly. Also the fact that it doesn’t give you a +3 drop nor do you get t5 gear unless you complete a plethora of steps beforehand didn’t help sway me to suffer through LFG.
-
I 100% agree with all your sentiments and feelings about the game. That being said I think that boycotting the Epic Raid is not enough. We need to organise a strike. And no not Devil’s Lair for the millionth time 🤣. We need to send a message to Bungie HQ and Sony that they need to listen to the community about the grind and our other concerns seriously. Organise a day or maybe two where we just don’t play. Let them see very low numbers for a couple of days. Now why hasn’t this happened? Because of variety of reasons. Addiction, stupidity, stubbornness, disagreement with sentiment, disagreement with the action that is proposed, etc etc etc. Personally I think that this goes one of four ways:- 1. Bungie carry on, tone deaf as usual and when BF6 and BL4 come out the numbers tank and they U-turn hard, grovel and change happens and people come back. 2. As 1 however people don’t come back and the game is shutdown, Marathon flops and the studio is ignominiously broken down and absorbed into Sony. 3. Bungie actually listen and implement a timely change to improve the grind and they become more like Digital Extremes in how they engage with the community. (it’s a -blam!--ing fantasy, but hey we can dream right?) 4. Bungie don’t listen and give a big -blam!- you to the community and numbers tank and then it follows along the lines of 2. (This is the most likely scenario imho). Now before any of you “delightful people” on here berate me for organising or even suggesting to organise a strike of the game, listen closely, it’s not going to happen and I’m not organising one. Why you ask? Because of :-
Addiction, stupidity, stubbornness, disagreement with sentiment, disagreement with the action that is proposed, etc etc etc.
I think the only way to save Destiny is to remove it from Bungie’s grasp and give it to a genuinely good and community focused game development team. Like the Helldivers 2 developers or maybe Sony could pilfer some of the developers that worked on Forsaken from Blizzard Albany(previously Vicarious Visions) and High Moon Studios. Or buy them from Blizzard? I dunno I’m just spitballing here. Like I said before I think that option 4 is the most likely. Bungie never, ever -blam!--ing listen, even to the YouTubers and Content Creators that are essentially saying the same thing as these forums, unless their backs are to the wall. And even then they do it begrudgingly!! As I’ve mentioned content creators, I’ll just leave this link here to Esoterick’s video with his suggestions on how to improve the grind that are EASY and QUICK to implement. https://youtu.be/QcOrcxi1RW0?si=53gp8-EWzZBqZFzg If anyone wants to know my solutions to the issues of the grind they are virtually the same as his. They are easy to implement and should address all the pain points many of us have with the grind. I added it just to nip in the bud the comments from the pompous Bungie glazers on here that say that I’m always critical but never offer any solutions to the problems. I mean that’s also part of the problem. Why does a multi-billion dollar company need its paying customers to offer solutions to, what is supposedly, their areas of expertise???? This is how incompetent Bungie and those that defend them are!!!!! Turned into a bit of a rant. 🤣. Sorry, not sorry. 🤪

Nah the best way to boycott the epic raid is just don't turn on any stream about it let the twitch numbers show how uninterested we ,as a community, are in the game atm.
-
Boycott the whole game not just the epic raid tf, don't half--blam!- it play other games instead till they fix -blam!-. Not a week not two do it indefinitely till change is made if you're really serious about trying to make a difference.
-
If u want things to change boycott the portal. Not the raid x)
-
I like the idea, but I think we need to do something bigger. Like choosing a specific day where we choose to not log on. Actually, a whole week. That way it can really be noticed.
-
Appreciate the comments everyone (even the toxic ones). A few things to note: 1. I’m not 14, but that comment had me laughing lol. I’ll ask my parents next time before posting! 😂 2. The reason I’m suggesting the *New*, never before done Epic Raid is because it’s a unique event that I’m sure Bungie has already run metrics on for the determined outcome, and if the community were to to rally together and just not do it with the intention of a boycott, in my opinion, that speaks louder than just not logging on for a normal day. Content creators are the real key here, because they’re the focal point of hundreds of thousands of eyes, and if they work together to boycott this thing, then i think it would be huge for the game. Regardless, those were my personal thoughts and ideas. As previously stated, if you took the time to read that through, thank you! I’m just hopeful for a day where hopping on is filled with a similar, post nostalgic form of excitement that a legendary engram gave me in d1.
-
Sure thing, I don't even play the normal raids anymore so that is a pretty easy ask.
-
I'll add boycott the next reveal stream. At the very least wait a good day to see it. That will light a fire under some buns and let the decision makers and bean counters know just how unwell the game is. Give the engagement or lack thereof they can understand
-
Sadly it’s clear where this game was heading several years ago. The Destiny we were promised and all hoping for will never be. It peaked around the Taken King for me and a gradual decline with a few peaks since then. I moved on from the game ages ago as I realised what was happening. Lots more games more worthy of your time.

Edited by ForeverLaxx: 8/25/2025 7:27:33 AMIt won't really matter what you post here. The Content Creators are going to run it because their loyal thralls will watch and sub bomb, pointing at the screen with their mouths agape like some kind of soy-filled ape. Bungie is going to broadcast their "coverage" of it and call the whole thing a huge success despite the plummeting player count because they had a collective 1-10k people from across all streams watching. I get the sentiment, but on the Bungie forums, your voice is meaningless. They don't look here, and if they did, you're not licking their taint so they won't care anyway.
-
Given that so many of the players who finished the Raid on Contest Mode have (allegedly) been banned, is there going to be anybody left to play it anyway?
-
Do we even need a boycott? I feel like no one raids in EoF anyway. And it doesnt matter if only 50 raid, Bungie is going to stream and blow it up anyway and when 10 000 are in chat shitting on them they're just going to say that "there's interest".
-
Does something hardly anyone is going to play anyways really need to be boycotted?
-
I don't raid so I have no interest in watching someone else who does, not playing much either so chances are I won't be logging in during the race. 🤷
-
I’m not sure why boycotts are necessary for video games. If you’re not enjoying a game, surely you’ll be buying/playing less naturally as a result. No boycott needed. Bungie/Sony sees what you spend money on and how that correlates with time spent in the game. I’m sure they’ll also look at feedback to gain some context for their data. The only way a boycott makes sense to me is for people who are going to keep playing regardless, but want to send a message. The problem is Bungie will very quickly see it’s only a temporary blip in their data and so how badly are you twisting their arm with a boycott? Enough to make big changes? I doubt it. TLDR: keep it simple, play what you enjoy and don’t stress about a fun hobby.
-
the raid is for the scummy streamers to make money so I doubt boycotting will do anything
-
You should just stop giving streamers money.
-
That would be interesting if they set up a race and no one finishes....play but don't finish it would tie up so many hands it'd be funny
-
You’re 421 Light and GR9. You’re not boycotting anything …. Lol.
-
Too bad the world is filled with soy-infused creatures like Datto, that still chase "the first whatever" even if it means to -blam!- with his audience and abandon any vestige of self-respect. They will swallow the bait, and a few hours after, nobody will give a damn about this race, as usual. Let them get their cake while the Titanic sinks.
-
Truth
-
Only way to boycott, not to bother purchasing future DLC, Also petition aswell. Have them force to Delay Game have it full fix. Just have to see how it all goes. SONY have fully taken over it.
-
While I completely understand your point of view, I have to say that the streamers that I watch have ALL publicly conveyed their concern about the broken leveling system. Alas, to no avail. I am hoping the takeover at the top (with speed racer Pete stepping aside. This is the time Sony needs to get involved.
-
Sorry fam. It'll never work. I saw posts before the Contest Mode came out of people demanding that be boycott and look how that turned out. Unless that was the motivation for all the cheaters, that was a failure.
