Hey there. Ascension is not a class ability, it just uses class ability energy. Despite this, it has been allowed to work with various things that trigger from class ability usage, there is no intention for it to be able to work with everything though. The first list was put in place during The Final Shape, and an update in Edge of Fate added some new things to the list such as Spirit of Inmost Light and Powerful Attraction. However the list remains as a curated list of exceptions and anything not on the list is being intentionally excluded.
