I like reinforcing the class identity, it's a good start. Start being the key word.

Good changes so far, but keep more coming please. I hope that stasis shatter and threadlings will also get to scale with stats soon like warlock buddies as well. And please round out the subclass aspects (voidwalker, gunslinger, and sunbreaker still need their 4th.)

  • They did not reinforce the class identity. They just regurgitated what each class should be designed to do. Most players can't actually attain that level gear or skill to play the way the description states. It is ALL smoke and mirrors, just like the class item exotic. It is for all players, everyone will be able have it and the class item exotic will make al the difference in the game. Then they locked it behind a near impossible mission many player can't do, and put it on a timer, added in 47 raid symbols many player do not know or understand. This is just a bunch of bull puckey. Bungie is trying to sound like the game is going to get this awesome reinvention and be so much fun and they are just doing what they always do, try to hype it up.

    • I personally don’t care about class identity atp since it doesn’t really impact gameplay that much but I can understand its importance in the fantasy/ rpg aspect though. I feel like this would be a low priority issue overall.

    • We had class identity in the past. Then came the 3.0 changes where they actively worked to dissolve class identity

    • This old tortoise plays all 3 characters - roughly, about the same amount of time. My first one was the Titan…way back, in my (then) young Ninja’s original a/c (Xmas 2014). Happy days! 🥳 Warlock was my next pick, now on my own PS4 a/c (2015)…and, shortly thereafter, hello Hunter! In my simple view of things, my T was the tank, my W was the medic (Self-Rez days✅), and my H - much as I admired the fast movement and precision skill set, was above my old tortoise’s pay grade! Over time, I explored aspects of each, that became my ‘go to’ build…even though I only do the basic vanilla builds: eventually, incoming nerfs put paid to those strong builds over time, eg, bubble T with ToM (Taken King 1)…🧐 I don’t want the unique DNA of each character to be watered down to a ‘sameness’ level at par with the other two characters…❌❌❌ I want them to dominate at what they were created to do: Strength in identity and uniqueness…with lashings of ‘space magic’ and wizardry, to boot! ✅✅✅ Murphy, my ghost, agrees! 👻 That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡

    • “Some of these changes will come in releases during the month of September, others in October, and others still in Destiny 2 Update 9.5.0 alongside the Renegades release (and beyond!).” So class identity talk is just a distraction, nice.

        • I'm excited about the changes to Warlock buddies, I enjoy buddy builds; I'm not sure the rest of the community is going to share my excitement on that, though. Tying buddies to grenade damage is good, I can use that, most of them are class activated (Hellion, Arc Soul, Child, some Threadlings), but I can work with it. And mobile healing will be nice, I can use that. Like you said: I hope that's the starting point. Warlocks feel sort of generic right now outside of our buddy builds, like we're Jacks of all trades, we're not speedy like Hunters, or hitters like Titans, I'm hopeful Bungie can do something to set us apart besides just buddies and circles. It IS a good start, I'm happy with how this is starting, my fingers are crossed that Bungie keeps going.

          • It doesn't really mean anything, though. What good is being "the frontline strategist" when the AI is going to 2-3 shot you and everyone's huddled inside a Well anyway? They say warlocks are "mages" but all that means is they get autonomous turrets. And what do Hunters do, exactly? "Divide attention and 'avoid' damage?" Yeah, tell that to the perfect-tracking AI that will 2-3 shot you just like everyone else. Bungie doesn't know what they're doing with the classes because they want everyone to deal the same weapon DPS with different flavors of Boss Super, Add Super, and Joke Super sprinkled in. At this point, the only real differences between the classes are their melee abilities, their class abilities, and their jump abilities. Whoo hoo. Much identity.

            • Relock the grenades to their orginal classes. Make element verbs more powerful when you play a single element class.
