Why does Hunter have 3 separate Throwing Knife boosting exotics?
- Athrys's Embrace, Ophidia Spathe, Caliban's Hand
• make Athrys' strengthen all Throwing Knives + a minor secondary effect like "keyword on knife kills"
• make Ophidia a general melee boost like Wormgod/Guile
• make Caliban's effects apply to all knife types + gain the Ophidia second knife perk
While other classes do sometimes have multiple different exotics for different abilities on one subclass, they usually do more than just "hey, use this armor and this ability / thing is slightly better".
These suggestions push the identities of each exotic further apart rather than simply having them specialize in targeting individual niche abilities — one exotic would be for Throwing Knife damage + another minor effect, one for general melee damage boosts, and one for solar melee utility.
Next: why does Hunter have 3 Smoke Bomb exotics?
- Khepri's Sting, Gwisin Vest, Omnioculus
• make Khepri's double the smoke weaken effect + return melee energy for damaging and defeating weakened targets
• make Gwisin (I know it isn't REALLY a smoke exotic) disorient nearby enemies after exiting Invis + apply suppression when you melee a weakened target + give super energy when defeating void debuffed targets
• make Omnioculus apply Invis to the user and allies when damaging a target with a smoke bomb or Stylish Execution melee + make the damage resist persist for a short time after leaving Invis
Finally: why are there several Hunter exotics competing for unique Dodge or Invisibility improvements?
| Invis - Graviton Forfeit, Assassin's Cowl, Gwisin Vest, Omnioculus, Gryfalcon's Hauberk
| Dodge - Wormhusk Crown, Dragon's Shadow, Sixth Coyote, Gemini Jester, Bombardiers, Radiant Dance Machines, Speedloader Slacks
Niche Dodge Exotics - Mask of Bakris, Gifted Conviction (Ascension), Balanced of Power.
Not going over all these, my suggestion is just give them more unique identies that don't simply focus on giving very general effects to very general abilities like Dodge or Invisibility (I know they are distinct already, but Imo they should be moreso), and just make them more special in general.
For example:
• Wormhusk is a worse Alpha Lupi, give it cure or restoration instead for some small activation fee
• Dragons Shadow and Speedloaded Slacks are still pretty similar, and both are similar to the new Marksman Dodge buff coming I think next week.
• Sixth Coyote is like Armamentarium: it's a neat idea, but doesn't really do much otherwise. RDM does a lot more and is a much better for Dodge spamming.
• Gemini Jester and Bombardiers are both super dated and don't do enough to help you in a fight.
