I would imagine that you are aware or at least have an inkling that most of your community or whatever is left of it hates the portal with a passion.
With this knowledge, I would have assumed it safe to believe that you would be trying everything within your power to try and make the portal a fun and enjoyable place for us guardians to hang out and thwart the baddies of humanity and what not.
But… no, you make the mind boggling decision to add fixed power deltas to portal activities thus removing another layer of fun which in turn leads to players not wanting to engage with it at all.
Running activities at -30,-40 power is fine and if you and your team are running fairly meta load outs it’s not an issue at all BUT what’s the harm in running an ultimate pinnacle op with no negative modifiers but having three positive ones and getting T5 loot in abundance and nuking everything in the activity?
With the power levelling changes implemented today most guardians who still play will be 550 or knocking on the door of 550 within 2-3 weeks and with your power level staying at 550 for Renegades the T5 loot will be raining for everyone regardless (understandably this could change) so why feel the need to change anything?
Conquests exist for players who want play at a fixed handicap, why not enable the bundle of rewards that they give and make them farmable for players who want to game in that environment?
What fun was left in the portal was there because you could have your power fantasy and watch your build or god roll weapons plough through the enemies and nuke them. It’s fun and rewarding and both those concepts are what retains your players. As soon as playing the game starts to feel like a chore it’s adios amigos and you lose even more players.
You need to start gauging the community sentiment and feeling the temperature of the room way better than you do. I know I’ve just written a novel about fixed power deltas in portal activities but I’m trying to understand why as soon as people start to have a bit of fun and start to have a bit of enjoyment you intervene and cancel it out or smother it.
It’s a shame folks, it’s a damn shame.
The End.
