Same with arc charges in battleground nightfalls, and probably other round objects you can pick up. Would it really be that much development effort to add new iconography to the game? It would be so much better if snowballs had a snowflake icon, charges and batteries had a battery icon, and other objects that explode when thrown had a bomb icon.
