As many of the fellow vets will know linears haven’t been meta for a verrrrryyyy long time but next time they come around I’d like them to be more interesting than just a large damage buff given to them and here are some of my ideas!
[b]Explosives to all frames:[/b]
All linears frames now cause a small explosion upon hitting a crit(spaced out more on 3 round burst frame) every 2 explosions that occur in quick succession will cause elemental debuffs matching the elements of the weapons (void volatile / arc jolt / solar scorch / strand sever / stasis slow / kinetic weapons will cause a LARGE AOE singular kinetic tremor blast)
[b]Ammo returns[/b]
Bungie has given linears extreme damage bonuses to red bars but the biggest issue with that is its a single target weapon (making all frames explosive will help that) and ammo economy so I propose immediately returning ammo to the players mag if the linear is used to kill a red bars and red bars [b]ONLY[/b] obviously this could get out of hand if it worked on everything for example prenerf deconstruct but this will just give back a bit of that prenerf deconstruct power
[b]Flinch[/b]
I understand bungie wants weapons to have more feel to them by adding levels of flinch to the game but in PvE flinch on linears and snipers can feel absolutely abysmal if there are lots of ads around you or really anything that can constantly flinch you, with that being said I don’t think bungie should 100% remove flinch from precision weapons in PvE but I do think it should be extremely negligible and shouldn’t have a serious affect on your aim rather it should just be for cinematic effect for starters allow your gun to come back to resting position quicker inbetween flinches so your optic isn’t constantly being pushed up over and over from getting flinches before you finish the animation of the first one
[b]A lack of cool and unique perks[/b]
Most weapons archetypes in this game have perks designed specifically for them for example one-two punch or glave perks archers tempo explosive light ect but linears tend to just take perks from snipers which doesn’t add any layers of build crafting or complexity because quite frankly sniper perks aren’t really that “good” either besides things like triple tap fourth times the charm kinetic tremors ect basic run of the mill total damage perks or DPS perks

4 RepliesI put that I have a different idea, but I will say I really like the idea of unique perks. I can't think of any but that would be very cool to see! The reason I said I have different ideas is because I don't really see a problem with LFR's. They haven't been meta for a while, but to review some recent-ish metas (I might need your help since I've been away a while), there's a *lot* of high-skill methods, namely composition builds such as Izanagi plus an auto-load rocket or something, or complex supers using several stacked damage buffs lined up at the same time. But, exotic weapons aside, and unconventional methods aside, just one legendary versus another, LFR's are great for single targets. Their competition in DPS is Rockets and GL's, but neither of these really have the ammo economy of LFR's. Really, LFR's just feel pretty well-rounded, which can give the impression that they're kinda weak, but in my experience, they are the *most reliable* heavy archetype in endgame activities. Not the best, as that depends on the situation, just the most reliable in endgame content as a whole (grandmaster missions, and dungeons and up is what I'm referring to).
