Hello folks I hope you all had a cracking Christmas and enjoyed time with your family and whatnot and I wish everyone the best in the new year. On to the matter at hand…
I’m currently doing my solo flawless attempts of the new Equilibrium dungeon (great dungeon btw) and I’ve had a couple of instances where the final boss has had this much health left
[ ] and disaster has struck.
The first time I was hit with a PS error asking me to send and report a problem, these aren’t uncommon and I wonder if it had anything to do with the sudden influx of in-game particle effects? Usually it’s a guitar error code but I haven’t had any so far which is lucky.
My real head scratcher came when I had the boss down to a bee’s -blam!- worth of health again, I had compelled 5 blistered shadows in the taken realm so that should give me 30 seconds of damage, I was hacking away with the Praxic blade (3 light, 1 heavy) the damage was very decent, I was certain this was it, I was 2 combos max off felling him, I had 14 seconds left on my timer and his shield goes back up and he becomes immune.
Now like an idiot I assumed that damage phase was it so I didn’t retract any of the pylons going into my final phase. Can anybody please explain how he gained immunity when he had 14 seconds of damage left and I was way past the health threshold for damage?
It felt like a rather cheap way to die if I’m honest.

6 RepliesIf you get past the threshold of damage that you are working with, you only get roughly 2 or 3sec before damage ends. That’s the reason behind the compel or kill mechanic. Kill = bigger damage opportunity, less time Compel = more time, less damage opportunity That’s why it’s usually best to compel only 2 or 3 shadows then damage from there. If you fail damage then you need to get to the outskirts of the arena and survive for 1 round of lightning from the boss then grab shadow pools in the taken realm to turn off the pylons in the normal realm. In your instance the damage window was probably just shy of the total health bar so once you had reach the threshold, you had triggered the “end of damage phase” state dropping your damage time to the final few seconds
