Why PvP feels like cancer in this game …

Apart from all the “usual” stuff, like trash servers, horrific connections, awful hit detection, lagging, teleporting, error-codes and whatnot, which apparently is the widely accepted status quo in this game, there are a few things that Bungie keeps getting wrong. 1. Lobby balancing: The games are blowouts 80% of the time with one team going all negative and the other team rocking 17.0 KDs etc. Yeah, so balancing in MM but also the never ending lottery of who has host because I’m not so naive as to think that this is a skill thing mainly. 2. Snowball-effect: This is one that you morons actually need to wrap your heads around for once. The whole game works like this. You are better, you get better stuff, you dominate even more and are gatekeeping everyone else from getting good gear. What a motivating concept. But also single games have the snowball effect. You play better and as a reward you get your super earlier, which makes it virtually impossible for the other team to catch up - 6v6 is just great like that. And everyone is creating orbs for their teammates so that the other team can experience being supered six times back to back, and that’s a conservative estimate seeing how the spawns are so awful and the maps are so small that you get supered twice by the same person half the time. Yeah. Snowball effect. Not rocket science. But for this dilettante group of advise-resistant corporate lackeys it seems to be as vague of a concept as the future of their company. 3. Weapon balancing: Absolute no-brainer that different weapons are good for different scenarios and have their strengths and weaknesses. But Bungie manages to make weapons completely overpowered while other weapons underperform. And this is not an accident of course. It’s always the new Trials stuff. Last season it was Forgiveness that outperformed EVERY other sidearm, even exotics, in the game. This time around it’s the Martlet or whatever it’s called. Basically get that and use that or be screwed over. That is the most annoying and uninspired way to get people to play your game more. You know that your “new stuff” is actually 100% reskins and you know that nobody would care if these weapons weren’t outperforming all other weapons. So stats aside, these weapons dominate. 4. Supporting tactics that kill the game modes: Playlists like Control reward the exact wrong actions. If you play the objective, you are punished. If you split from your team, you are punished. If you try to engage at mid or close range, you are punished. So basically, run around in circles with your team and get 80% assist kills or camp somewhere with a scout rifle and pick off people from across the map while sitting in a rift or something. Don’t worry about the zones. Don’t worry about your team. As always, there’s more but these are the parts that really bug me and that make the game feel super awful. Again, apart from the usual nonsense that is already enough to make the game an utterly miserable experience.
