With Google DNS, it is straight up showing Destiny 2 server is unavailable.

Please look into this issue. I suspect this is a routing problem on your ends.
Remind me when Renegade launched. Many people cannot get into the game at all.
If you can get through the signing in screen somehow, you will get Weasel or Chicken
