Our next Major Update, Destiny 2: Shadow and Order, is undergoing large revisions and will be delayed.
This update is being changed and expanded to include sizable quality-of-life updates and as a result, will also be renamed. This update will now launch on June 9, 2026. We will provide exact details closer to release covering previously announced Weapon Tier Upgrading, but also additions like expanding Tiered Gear to all Raid and Dungeon activities, Pantheon 2.0, Tier 5 stats for Exotic Armors, and more.
Through June, we will continue to have routine bug fixes and stability improvements, continued portal modifiers, Guardian Games (March), and the return of a more frequent Iron Banner cadence (April).
In terms of communications, we will be focusing on providing you with updates about our live game content, community activations, and general upkeep through the TWID and our Destiny social channels.
Thank you for your continued patience and support. We will have more information on our next major update and future plans for Destiny 2 closer to launch.
See You Starside.
"Thank you for your continued patience and support" They are delusional. Some of the lowest player numbers in the history of the franchise due to poor decisions and stubbornly refusing to actually listen and react to the players that have stuck around this long. The least serviced live service game title in the short history of live service games.

2 Replies"tiered gear for all raids and dungeons..." Yeah because it's been so popular. Like 6 lfg posts on xbox the other day. Almost a whole team. None for the same activity. Also making feats gates for tiers hasn't been welcomed either. Well, game was fun once.

It sucks dandelion balls! What will be interesting is to see how this changes, if at all, following Marathon’s release. I have no beef with marathon, I hope it does well, but extraction shooters are not for me. If it bombs will there be a re-newed focus on Destiny to save the company? Maybe a D3 announcement? I live in hope.

Pretty disappointing. I guess I’ll be back in June? This’ll be one of the longest breaks I’ve ever taken from the game. Just been playing crucible recently, but getting tired of dismantling all the gear I don’t need. See everyone later.

Everyone could see this coming. They can say a 4 month delay is necessary for an update (not a DLC) but that doesn't actually explain what they were doing all this time? They couldn't make this update the last 7 months, but they made the last DLC in less time? Obviously Destiny 2 is again, taking a bad seat, to Marathon, as the company that siphoned all our D2 money into a different game while lowering the bar of content further and further for the same price, won't just admit, Marathon launch two days after this update was supposed to happen, took priority. Bungie has already shown that cannot handle doing one game, nevermind two at a time. The reasoning is cap. That will be 11 months total for an update, they've done updates in 3 before (again, not even a DLC)

6 RepliesWonder where all the Bungie glazers that said no delay was coming and everything is fine are at...a real conundrum.

Cough MAINTENANCE MODE cough 😏

1 ReplyThe Raid/Dungeon part is an insult. We played Raids to get the weapons, we played the Raids to get the adept weapons, and we played the Raids to get the weapon patterns. This. Is. Not. Content.

Edited by Big Fase: 2/19/2026 3:24:03 PMIt would be nice if we could go after them legally... I feel like we've all been led on / misinformed / lied to... This is what it must feel like to go with an old friend to a place you've never been only to have them disappear and leave you behind... Lost and confused... They're not our friends... This isn't about business or the dollar anymore... It feels personal... They basically told us ( loyal D2 players ) to go fk ourselves..... Well, guardians we have a choice to make... The future will only tell...

2 RepliesWhile I appreciate what they provided, the TWID better cover more. Smoke and mirrors is right to call this truly what the next update will be. And it still isn't enough for me to ever buy Marathon.

5 RepliesEdited by Touch: 2/19/2026 4:55:02 AMDoesn't look great. All I read was: Re-grind raids (player base is already too low to support folks who have to go to LFG) Re-grind Exotics Pantheon (same as above) Portal is staying? Im not personally interested in any of that. Edit: probably what I should say here is that if thats all that we have to look forward to, just stop. Stop developing D2 and either focus on a sequel, or just let us know nothing meaningful is coming so we (I) can stop looking forward to what is probably an empty future. Dramatic, sure, but thats where im at personally with Destiny. All this really says to me is " we're bankrupt (creatively, and maybe literally) and its all but over".

Here’s what happens when things don’t go as plan folks. « The Plan », a year back, was to launch D2 new revised, trimmed down, expansions model to enter a more cost sustainable cycle. Meanwhile Marathon was supposed to launch over the summer, introducing a new revenues generating IP along Destiny to diversify. Then summer arrived, the new D2 model backfired, the heavy grind portal centric model with recycled content burned down the player base faster than a wax candle on a hot stove, and the feedback was unanimously negative for EoF. All the while, play tests for Marathon are mixed at best and they got struck by the art theft scandal. Q3 arrives and they had to push Marathon an extra 6 months, delaying revenues and increasing dev cost, meanwhile a significant portion of the remaining D2 development resources have to be spent undoing the harm done instead of building momentum and future content. 2026 arrives, reworking the plan for Renegades amidst the crunch for Marathon release. At this point instead of two revenues games, Bungie has half of one while still investing heavily on both. I don’t know what’s coming next, but I don’t see anything surprising happening either. Things didn’t go as plan, and they are between a rock and a hard place. At this point I don’t even know if we’ll have a next expansion cycle.

5 RepliesSo, they're renaming it (smoke & mirrors in bungo style) , the changes are exactly what was leaked last year (pantheon 2.0, tiered raid loot & exotics) and so all they're adding from what was known as new portal modifiers, & it's 4 months away. If you don't raid there's nothing for you - unless there's more, but surely they should reveal that now to calm the storm.

…More “Ai Slop”?

3 RepliesEdited by Dooodley: 2/19/2026 2:51:52 PMAs someone who just wants the game as daily entertainment and not really looking for end-game content I would have liked them to come out and say that they're making daily content streamlined at a "daily difficulty" again. The modifers you have to put on for Portal activities to be worth doing just arent fun and just restrict autonomy. On the other end of the spectrum we have the VG alerts, which are way too easy. What they did to Pinnacles was probably the worst though, they used to be "fun balanced" and something you could run as a solo player. You can still run them but now they're just tedious and not something I'd ever do for fun. And the timers really have to go. I think we just have to accept that it's GG's. It's too little and way too late - the game is going to have a 5K population by the time we get there so why even put time and effort into it??

Run, and don't look back.

It's Joever boys

1 ReplySome of my friends have already received a Bungie survey e-mail and of course gave constructive feedback that will get completely ignored. I only log in to grab a weekly trickle of BD by doing daily bounties taking maybe 20 min on a single character. A far cry from what used to be 4 to 6 hours a night with dungeon runs, bounties on all characters and farming for rolls. Sad.

3 RepliesNah this is the end of destiny and bungie. Marathon will flop followed by a 4 month delay with increasing player retention.
we need to build momentum and maintain it. Let’s f-ing do this thing

Fully understand the lack of information is leading to a lot of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Our teams are working to get you updated as soon as we can. Can't apologize enough.
Absolutely pathetic.

3 RepliesThey posted it today. https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/Article/twid_02_19_2026

Edited by Night_Fury147: 2/19/2026 4:57:32 AMKudos to Bungie for announcing a three month delay to Shadow & Order only two weeks before it was supposed to release. At least we finally got confirmation that Iron Banner will return, but we have to wait until -blam!-ing April. Also, I can’t wait for another vegan burger (a.k.a. nothing burger) TWID tomorrow.
-
1 ReplyWhat I found curious, and nobody seems to be mentioning, is the need to rename Shadow and Order. If there’s no revision or expansion of the actual content, why would QoL changes make that necessary? I mean the story, narration and actual content is done, right - so what bearing does regrinding Fatebringer for the 12th time or T5 Exotic Armour have on the renaming of the expansion?
-
I mean.. we all knew it was inevitable. The initial Snickers fumble put the entire studio on the back foot & it was sure to impact D2. It's a pity, but, as Spike says "Whatever happens, happens" At least the rumour mill can wind down for a bit. It is what it is 🤔
-
1 ReplyStill no mention of the overdue roadmap.

1 ReplyAt this point division 2 is going to have a bigger player base than Destiny
