There’s a lot of conversation right now about the future of Bungie, Destiny, & Marathon. I’m just here for my 2 cents if anyone at the studio cares.
I love Destiny. It’s my fav game of all time. I want to play Destiny again. I long for the experience. I’d jump at the chance to continue playing. Im talking - it looks good during development & im going against my rule of no pre-orders.
But that ain’t happening with more D2. I’d rather just let it remain uninstalled & remember the good times than continue to beat that dead horse. It’s boring, it’s dated, it’s stale, and it’s barely holding on.
I can’t stand Marathon, so that’s out.
Destiny 3 with a fresh new start, new guardian story, new characters, different time-period - I’ll be all over that and probably put another $1000 bux into and play for 6000 hours.

Once Marathon fails, that will be game over for Bungo. Regardless, D3 won't happen.
-
It's bust, D3 is not a magical cure all. It would just be D2 with all the same problems, just a different title.

4 RepliesD3 would work, as long as they look for feedback from other people, never listen to the d2 "community leaders " ever again.

8 RepliesEdited by Alleviate_Fate: 4/12/2026 2:41:58 AMGo play rising then, they arent going to deviate from the fate saga and shouldnt the story writing and telling has been superb. The gameplay remains great, the thing that lacks is mode of delivery. People clamoring for d3 dont know what they are asking for, d2 almost failed out the gate and needed forsaken to fix it, noone likes their -blam!- taken to have to regrind the same -blam!-. D3 by current bungie would be just that and not a single person wants it. Changing the number isnt going to magically fix the game when the same devs are making the game.

Bust it is, then
-
You and the people who want a Destiny 3 have to be NPC’s.
-
I hope D3 doesn't come out. Bungie have already shown their true face.
-
By this bungie? It's just repeating history for the third time
-
I personally don't want a d3 from Bungie.
-
5 RepliesDestiny 3 from Bungie? Absolutely not. Destiny 3 from a different developer that would probably care more? Absolutely
-
40 RepliesLong overdue for a d3. I don’t understand why d2 has lasted 9 years but d1 was only a year and a half. I don’t think they are doing a d3 because the story already ended and they probably spent all their resources on marathon. Who knows what’s next?

1 ReplyDo yourself a favor. Go play FFXIV on the free trial. It's a breath of fresh air. Learn about the world of Eorzea and fill your heart with whimsy and wonder. You won't regret it. If you had friends in this game, play with them too. It's a unforgettable journey. Or play Warframe.

3 RepliesI would love a D3 but not from Bungie in this current state. They ruined the feel of the game these last few years. If we could get the developers from the D1 days I'd be happy. We would need a prequel set a few centuries before D1 with all new characters.
-
Would you really want a D3 from bungie though? They'd just triple down on the wrong parts of D2. Like you said, you'd be willing to trop a grand on D3, and there's too many other likeminded individuals. Bungie would just do the bare minimum to take your money and call it a day.
-
I think a remake of D1 as the definitive fresh start makes more sense. The lore and story-telling is already so messy that trying to restart with D3 would just lead to more issues imo. Take all of the best components from both games and then go from there.

Edited by xbroggiex: 4/12/2026 1:21:09 PMWhat could a Destiny 3 really do that Destiny 2 couldn't? That is probably the most important question. Destiny 3 just seems like a way to run away from the problems Bungie caused with Destiny 2 and instead of fixing them its just giving them an out. Until Destiny 2 is updated into an acceptable state, anyone buying a D3 would be idiots for doing so. You go on about Destiny 2 being stale but what would make Destiny 3 not stale as well?
Destiny 3 with a fresh new start, new guardian story, new characters, different time-period
I don't get this constant asking for D3 to be this wildly different game with fresh start with everything before forgotten or made irrelevant. At that point is it Destiny, or just something else parading around the name?
