I first picked up destiny during the taken king expansion. Honestly had zero expectations when I first started playing this game but it quickly became a game I played on a daily basis. I was never particularly good at PVP but it was once a very enjoyable part of the game. Its been quite a long time since I have been a regular player but I often find myself looking for a game to fill in that void. I often think back to those time where I truly enjoyed destiny PVP and looked forward to trials of Osiris every week. During the taken king expansion PVP was at its best in my opinion and I truly feel like everybody had something they enjoyed and was overpowered. I was a terrible sniper and got sniped often but enjoyed using the shotgun. But slowly everything that was fun got nerfed into the ground and what was the final nail in the coffin? Special ammo became so limited it made it using special weapons nearly obsolete. Sure the game was not balanced perfectly but everything felt powerful and there was so many different styles of play. I personally feel that this really cut down the player base. Bungie was so focused on balancing instead of making the game actually fun.
Using your special weapons felt like part of your play style vs mostly relying on primary weapons. The self revive on the warlock added an extra layer of excitement when you finished a round of elimination and had to stay on edge. Grenades and special abilities more plentiful. Everything felt overpowered and that's what made it fun. I do not even know the state of the game anymore but if it ever returned to that style of play id definitely play again.

I’m not really sure what you’re talking about because grenades/abilities are far more prevalent now than they’ve ever been in the history of this franchise, ability spam is all over the place. Things get nerfed, things get buffed, that’s always been the nature of the beast. It’s really not hard to adapt to it in the long run and at end of service very few things will ever change now, if at all. We’re in a forever state unless something is truly broken like certain set bonuses.
Grenades and special abilities more plentiful.
The sticky meta, is your post really pining over the sticky meta in PvP? Flux is still a one bang'r... nobody uses it because it has Zero aim assist.
