How is history taught across the pond?

I consider myself to be a bit of a history buff, it is one thing to hear our perspective on history here. But another from over there... Exactly what is taught on the other side of the world? Like what did you learn of the American Revolution? The Civil War, Vietnam, etc.

  • Live in the UK. Learnt more American history than I did British history, and have done History up to A2 (highest non-university level.) Didn't cover the Revolution (learnt that in my own time so I'd appreciate AC3 more, shouldn't have bothered as the game sucked) or the Civil War (know the basics though). Learnt about the early settlers under the Empire, migration West, American-Indian conflicts and then covered pretty much everything American from 1890-1990. Wrote a big essay on the Watergate Scandal. Aware of modern America through geopolitics. Didn't learn anything about South America outside the USA try to get rid of Spanish influence in the pacific sphere, and not much about Canada.
