Why Can't Everyone Leave Each Other Alone?

Atheists hate it when religious people pester them, so why do most atheists pester religious people? Personally I could give a rats ass about what you believe, present cold hard facts and I'll believe it, but most people try and convert everyone to their own beliefs. What happened to people just caring about their own life?

  • I don't pester religious people. However, when someone makes their beliefs known in a public manner, they are putting them up for examination and refutation. As someone who values truth, I could not in good conscious allow someone to continue their ignorance unchallenged.

    • Most atheists are pretty quiet about their beliefs. Christians not so much, but for the most part they don't pester people about their beliefs. It's only a vocal minority which make the majority sound bad. Some people are overzealous (these largely belong to the group of religious people), others have serious superiority complexes (largely internet atheists). Of course, that was a generalization but I hope you get my point.

    • What baph said. You put ideas on the public forum, you're a damn moron if you think or insist that people should treat them as though they were immune to criticism. My question is, why do people want to be left alone? Are you so childish you can't stand when people disagree with you?

    • I just don't think religion should be mentioned unless it's between people of the same religion and religious practices shouldn't be enacted upon if they expand out of the believer's own life.

      • I think what happened was the internet and technology developed people to the point where they had to force there beliefs on others in order to feel significant, or to the point where people meddle in others affairs in attempts to fulfill their perverse sense of entertainment. It is just human nature...

      • Speaking for myself, I find most religion morally wrong and religious followers delusional.
