"Competition" can lead to more aggression than exposure to violent media.
A very interesting read, especially the part about the nature of aggression and competition. The fact a study hasn't been done on the difference between violence in movies and violence is games is also very... odd. With the recent interest from everyone after the Sandy Hook shooting, I'd sleep better knowing the science done this time around is thorough.
What do you guys think? Do you ever find yourself more irritated, snappy, and aggressive during/after competition? I certainly do. It take a lot of meta-cognition to keep myself focused on the 'fun' in the competition instead of taking it to a level that only serves to annoy me.
