And holy crap, was that fun. I'd HAD oblivion for a while, but could never really get into it. Until this Thursday, when I gave it another chance. I finished the MQ, having taken a few breaks to do KoTN and part of Shivering Isles, at about 2 this morning. Ignoring how hilarious it is that I finished the story at level 6, I really feel like the plot was well-paced, and the Main Quest was fun.
The ending, with the battle in Imperial City and Martin turning into the Avatar of Akatosh, felt like a really good climax. Granted, Mehrunes Dagon and the Dragon weren't animated all that well, and the Prince of Destruction should have had some real dialogue beyond roars and grunts. Only just a few lines, though, a monologue would have been inappropriate for Dagon. But it was still a fantastic ending. The pacing and, really the story in general were done better than Skyrim and debatably better than Morrowind. It's nice playing this game. Oblivion made being the sidekick pretty cool. It's a nice change of pace from Skyrim, where the MQ and ALL of the guild quests are about the player being the chosen one. I'm not enjoying the armor and weapon health, though, or the fact that magic is so confusing. Sorry, call it dumbed down if you like, but Skyrim blows it's predecessors out of the water when it comes to being user-friendly and convenient. If TESV had nearly as much variety in it's magic, it would be far superior in that aspect of the game.
All in all, really good story, especially by Bethesda standards, and I'm now going to tackle the Shivering Isles.
On a related note, is Mankar Camoran voiced by the guy who did the Prophet of Truth? It sounds a lot like him but I'm not sure.

I hope that somewhere down the line Bethesda revisit Cyrodiil. It is a really nice environment that I do so enjoy to wander around. Its like a lovely pub crawl in summer that occasionally gets interrupted by a wolf.

I like Oblivion more than Skyrim.

It was an excellent game, and yes, its the same awesome voice actor.

I really liked the environment in Oblivion. Skyrim was just way to snowy and kinda empty.

Stop changing your name foo!

Oblivion is the only TES where I finished the main quest. Damned exploring...

I've been recently playing through Oblivion again. Still one of my favorite games that never gets old.
