I want to start learning some form of assembly (language)

I saw funkbrotha mention something like x86 assembly language, and now I'm interested. What do I have to download that's free to start messing around with something like this?

 • Don't let people dissuade you - it's actually a lot of fun! I haven't done it in many years, but a long time ago I dabbled in it for school and fun. It's going to get you closer to the metal than you've ever been, but you'll come out of it knowing a lot more about how computers work. Okay, so it's old... but there's still copies out there. The book I liked when I was learning was: http://www.amazon.com/Assembly-Language-Step-By-Step-Jeff-Duntemann/dp/0471578142 Give it a shot! I wish you luck!
