Those who are "Pro-Life" should be ashamed
-Denying a woman the right to do what she wants with her body
-Forcing your own subjective morals upon others so that don't get to choose
-Ensuring millions of abortions happen illegally without professional help where the mother may die

If the fetus can't yet survive outside the womb then I consider it to be fair game.

10 RepliesMy biggest problem with abortion is that I feel there are too many other viable options to justify it. There are thousands of couple who can't conceive and would give anything to have that child in the womb. The biggest thing, however, is that to me its just the refusal to accept responsibility for their actions. You made a mistake, you didn't use birth control/condoms/morning after pill, and you got pregnant, now live with your actions. To deny another human being the right to a chance at life is just to put it plainly, cruel. You could be denying someone a best friend, a husband/wife, denying the world a great leader or scientist, but you're not thinking of the human being or what effect its life might have on people wether it be small scale or global, you're only thinking of yourself "my body" "my right" "my life", in my opinion, that "my, mine, me" turns into "our, ours, and us" at pregnancy. I've talked to mothers who got pregnant at 15 telling me that their kids were the best thing to ever happen to them. I've known gang members, street thugs who've looked at the thought of abortion with disgust. Just that a mother can so easily murder her child because she doesn't want it is just too much for them to swallow. To deny life to another human being simply because you don't want to go through with the pregnancy is not only unethical, its malicious.

I've changed my stance on Abortion over the years. I was previously staunchly pro-life. I'm still pro-life in spirit, but I'm not willing to tell someone who's been -blam!-, a victim of incest, or someone that has a high probability of dying from child birth that they must have the child. I can't support it being made illegal with exceptions simply because we'll see a surge in -blam!- cases. However, I do take issue with the whole "her body" thing. The fetus has its own genetic code. It is not a part of her body. It is a separate entity, that regularly multiplies, which qualifies it as life.

Maybe she was rayped-, maybe she just slept with a random guy who has no interest in taking care of a kid, maybe it was with her boyfriend, maybe her husband. If she was -rayped!-, I don't object to her wanting to get an abortion. No kid wants to know that his or her dad was a rapist. But if it was with her boyfriend or husband then I think she should keep the child unless it's a threat to her life.

OP, what if your birth was due to cause of unwilling sex? Would you want never to exist? And about the subjective morals thing, you could technically get into that with [i]any[/i] argument in politics, like 'should murder be allowed' 'should thievery be allowed', etc. That's not an overly valid excuse.

7 RepliesIMO, Abortion should only be considered if it's a life and death scenario. (i.e Mother will potentially die from giving birth, the baby will die shortly after birth, the baby has a life-threatening defect, etc.)
