A Volkswagon commercial depicts a white man cheering up his coworkers by mimicing a Jamaican accent. So offensive is this example of what was called 'modern day blackface' on CNN that the Jamaican government itself went as far as to endorse the commercial, citing it's use of offensive stereotypes like "Jamaicans like to be happy" or "Jamaicans are friendly" as cause to publically praise it.
Sarcasm aside, this really is a hilarious example of just how easily offended Americans (oh sorry, I should specify 'the amercian media' to avoid making an offensive generalizations) can be. Why do people waste so much time looking for stereotypes or worrying about media depictions when real bigotry and discrimination is still a problem?

Either way, Jamaicans have an awesome stereotype associated with them. Why would they want to push it away? Shows the general perception of what a Jamaican is thought to be.
