This is one step forward. Now it's just Scotland left.
The Commons voted in favour of the The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill, by 400 to 175, a majority of 225, at the end of a full day's debate on the bill.
Prime Minister David Cameron has described the move as "an important step forward" that strengthens society.
For once, something right has happened.
EDIT: It needs to go through the House of Lords now..

Edited by OaklandPaintbalr: 2/6/2013 3:28:36 AMGood. So glad to see people are sensible. To Americans who disagree with same sex marriage; Do you support the Constitution? Would you consider yourself a defender of the Constitution? Would you risk your life to defend the constitution? If you answered yes, you are now a supporter of gay marriage. - In Loving V Virginia, the Supreme Court determined that marriage is a fundamental right. - and under the 14th amendment, all citizens are guaranteed equal protection under the law. If marriage is a fundamental right, and you deny a specific group of people their right to marry, that violates Equal Protection and is unconstitutional. Banning gay marriage is unconstitutional. "But they have civil unions, that's good enough! It's basically equal to marriage, just seperate!" Nope. See Supreme Court in Brown V Board of Education. "Separate but Equal" still violates Equal Protection. If you support the constitution, you support gay marriage.
