Full Article
For those of you who don't know, Drafting in Magic the Gathering is an extremely popular and competitive format where players cobble together a deck from random cards which they will use to try to defeat all of the competition. Each player is given three booster packs of cards, they take turns opening a pack, selecting a single card from it, then they pass the rest of the pack to the person to their right. Slowly, card by card, pack by pack, they cherry pick the cards that they want, and cobble together a deck with the right balance of spells, creatures, and bombs.
It requires a ton of practice to build decks with a good curve, the right balance of removal, and of course a little luck with scoring a few strong cards that can help you push through and defeat the enemy.
Overall, Bungie placed second behind the Xbox Live Team, with Travis Pijut and Alex Loret de Mola having perfect 3-0 finishes. I know what question I'm asking for next week's mailsack, and I'm proud that my favorite Game Developer has some terrific Magic Players.

I don't understand anything about Magic the Gathering. Some of my friend's are trying to teach me but I just get confused with how they word it and they get way too far into detail.

Here is at least one deck our team used at the Rumble. Will update this post if more become available. Alex Loret de Mola: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mtg-dev-draft-bungie-alex-loret-de-mola/

Sort of off-topic, but this thread reminded me of a gametype I loved in Warcraft 3, where you would draft units from different pools and ultimately fight each other round-robin style with the units you drafted. Man... Warcraft 3 customs were the best. People nostalgia on Halo customs, but Warcraft 3 customs spawned complete genres - Tower Defense, DoTA, and probably some others that aren't coming to mind right now.

That is legit. I wish they'd play some MTG with us, hah. I have a Burn/ Control deck that will wreck ALL the shits.

Edited by Double: 2/6/2013 11:37:35 PMThere was actually a score-keeping error, so only Alex and Travis went 3-0. It was a lot of fun, and we'll win it next time!

Good Effort, Bungie got game. How many teams were involved? How would Bungie have tea bagged their competitors after they won - is there a card for that or something? Sorry that's a silly question, ofcourse Bungie have a teabag card.

Bungie kicking ass in more games than their own. Man I want to play some Magic with some of these guys. They should all get in the group.

That game sounds super difficult. They get my even more respect.
