If you could cure cancer...BUT
You have to go through immense pain for each person you cure, would?

Simply place another person in teh puma's place. Someone that deserves to go through that pain. Surely whatever teh puma made for this cure would allow for different people to be put in it's place.

The pain itself is a tradeoff for the burden of cancer within itself but to lift the weight off of the shoulders of another is to have not a burden amongst my own. I'd be able to coax with the pain so long as it relieves the worries of the one I am curing. Loser n00b brings up a good point however. I'd be bone dry with everyone lining up once they hear that I'm the next Jesus. That would take some consideration. Part of wanting to survive the ordeal is wanting to be myself and continue living the way I do. I could thus end up being a tool of salvation and no longer be who I am now. That there is the ultimate burden far outweighing the pain I'd suffer. Five bucks says a movie studio takes this and makes the next great hit.

I'd do it for a few people...But, I'd also tell them to not tell anyone that I could do it. I wouldn't want a world of people flocking to me for being some sort of magical healer.
