Less than 24 hours after Walt Disney Pictures officially confirmed plans to develop stand-alone feature films in the Star Wars universe, EW is reporting that they have learned which two characters the first two projects will focus on: Boba Fett and a young Han Solo.
Plans for the Solo film call for it to take place in the time between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy. No plot details have been revealed, but it's a near-certainty that a brand new actor would have to step in to play everyone's favorite scruffy looking Nerf-herder.
The adventures of Han Solo pre-A New Hope was actually the focus of one of the earliest Star Wars novels, 1979's "Han Solo at Star's End," set two years before the events of the 1977 film.
The Boba Fett film, meanwhile, would be set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and would follow the bounty hunter on an intergalactic adventure.
Both of the the films (of which Lawrence Kasdan is said to be writing one and Simon Kinberg writing the other) are tentatively planned to see release sometime after 2015 when J.J. Abrams' Episode VII is planned to hit theaters.

I would prefer spin-offs in a completely different time period. The Old Republic Trilogy interspersed between the new trilogy would be much better.

Edited by RomanGladiator7: 2/10/2013 5:36:20 PMActually excited for these releases. I mean, nothing can be worse than the Phantom Menace...right? Hopefully these will kick ass and exceed our expectations.

Boba is the greatest of the living Mandalorians

A Boba Fett movie would be cool I guess.

Edited by Doctor Jensen: 2/11/2013 12:05:10 AMDoes anyone actually look up what the sources are in that article? The first source said that the stand alone movies are being made, but who they are following is unknown. It confirms nothing at all. Come on people, learn to read.

It seems confusing that have three different Star Wars movies being developed and taking place at different times in the same universe.
-
Cool.

I am looking forward to this now, thanks for sharing. I think I like the Millennium Falcon more than I like Hon Solo, though, but that isn't saying much...I love that ship.

There has clearly been an opportunity missed here. Boba Fett is a good shout and I think we need more antihero's like him. But seriously? They chose a young Han-Solo over Jar-Jar Binks?!?!?!??!
-
Boba Fett? YES!!! Han Solo? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

yayayayayayayayayayayayayayaya

We all knew this would happen when it was sold to Disney.

This is going to be epic!
-
Shila Buff or whatever the -blam!- his name is better not play han solo or so help me god...
-
Originally I thought that they were both bad ideas, but then I remembered all the adventures they've had in the EU. Can't wait for Boba Fetts!

. . . How young?

I'm still hoping for a Clone Wars movie from a trooper's perspective but I guess a Fett movie could be awesome. Not a Solo fan so ehhhhhhhh.

As if a new trilogy wasn't enough.
