People are hyping it up so much, when the plot is just as cliche as it gets. "Post-apocalyptic world with deadly aliens that inhabit it?" God, it's like Bungie stole every 90's disaster movie ever.
And the character designs are just recycled from Halo 3 and Oni. I think it's plain to everyone that Bungie has lost its magic.

It's really just down to if Bungie can translate that into the game itself. I also don't think this is a traditional post-apocolyptic scenario. I'm not familiar with too many post-apocoliptic stories in which A) the story starts with humanity's resurgence and B) the apocalyptic event happened so deep in the future that humanity has to regain lost planets. And even if it was totally stereotypical, there is so much you can do within that pretense that I don't think it would really matter all that much given the rest of the narrative was well written.
