Thought I'd create a list of everything we know so far on Destiny. • The next evolution of entertainment — an incredible story set within a newly-imagined, always-connected universe filled with action and adventure. • Create your character, forge your legend by defeating powerful foes, and earn unique and customizable weapons, gear, and vehicles. • Unprecedented variety of FPS gameplay, including story, cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes combined with public and social activities. • Destiny will be an always-online experience, it’s currently unknown how this works for those who don’t have an internet connection/Xbox Live Gold account. • Destiny is designed to be enjoyed by all skill levels, with Bungie focusing on making the experience as simple and direct as possible. • The new engine that Destiny runs on will pair real-time dynamic lighting with global illumination for spectacular vistas. • There is rumoured to be large group scenarios in Destiny that have been described by Bungie employees as “raids”. • Destiny will not contain a main menu. Rather, you’ll jump straight into the action once you’ve booted up the game. • A competitive multiplayer mode will be available which is completely optional (You won’t be forced to engage in PvP unless you wish to). • A Destiny mobile phone app will allow you to view game updates and see what your friends are up to whilst you’re on the move. Gameplay • Described as an FPS combined with an open-world sandbox, Bungie has claimed that Destiny is a “shared-world shooter.” • The city located underneath the Traveler (huge sphere) will be known as your home. • Players will be able to visit the Overwatch District in order to meet with other players and participate in activities such as gambling, competitive multiplayer, or meeting up with friends to embark on missions. • Players will be able to purchase spaceships that’ll take them to and from various different planets including Mars, Venus, Saturn and more. • Travelling between these planets has been described as “fast” • Planets will have unique terrain, features (For example, Mars is described as a huge desert-like place) • Day and night and weather cycles will also be in-game. • Players will create their own characters named “Guardians” • Playing through the game will allow you to level up and gain unique abilities/weapons for your Guardian • The Guardian will be able to harness the power of “the Traveler”. Described as a powerful energy of sorts, you’ll be able to use this power alongside your weapons. • The “Dust Palace” on Mars is one of many public areas in Destiny in which you’ll be crossing paths with other players, thanks to the matchmaking going on in the background. • You’ll be able to take part in at least six-player cooperative play, but it’s currently unknown how many more players you’ll be able to group up with. • Although Cooperative play is a huge part of the Destiny experience, you can play by yourself if you wish. • Complete missions and you’ll be rewarded with unique weapons with custom names. • Every piece of kit that you receive or earn will be your earn, examples given include helmets and capes. • Certain areas that you can visit have been revealed. Chicago has been described as a swampland whilst Europe is a “deadzone”. • The entire universe of Destiny is open to exploration; You’ll be able to fly through the rings of Saturn, whilst seeing the rubble of long abandoned fleets drift past you. Music • A full 50 minutes of soundtrack recorded with a 106-piece orchestra has already been created. • Additional material will feature Mike Salvatore and Paul McCartney. • The soundtrack has been described as having no restrictions either, with pieces clocking in “as long as they need to be”. • Most pieces are between five and seven minutes long. • Marty has confirmed that no particular main Theme has been recorded yet. But he imagines that one of the pieces may naturally evolve into the main theme. (credit to Mairuzu1337) Races/Factions Guardians – Split into at least three classes; Titan, Warlock and Hunter. This is the race that players will control. The Cabal – A race of big, armoured rhino-like creatures who occupy Mars. Unnamed Spider Race – Described as pirates who rely on heavy rusted machines. Vex – Described as time-traveling robots. Space zombies – No information is known at this time. FOTC – Described as a Guardian faction of some kind. The Fallen – A race of aliens that adopt an insect-colony approach to their society, which may also give clues to their battle tactics. They have 4 arms. (credit to Mairuzu1337)
