What if... The online world was multiplatform?

Think about it! Of course this'd be hard to pull off, and may only be done on the Xbox 360/720 and the PS3/PS4, but it's not impossible. EDIT: you guys seem to think that it has to be directly via the LIVE / PS network but what I was trying to say is that they could send the data from the game to a central server located at Bungie or Activision and work it that way. Software and hardware don't matter as they could send the same packets of player / enemy / etc positions to every console and have the game's engine translate it. Think outside the (x)box.

Cross Platform Networks is possible - Article It's possible to have everyone in the same world, it was tested in alpha builds of the game internally. The problem is .... $$$ and Microsoft doesn't want Sony players to exist in their world. Think about it from a marketing perspective, if you had everyone in one world, the PS3/4 players could play Destiny online, without a monthly subscription fee to use their online service, unless they had PS+. Xbox Users have to use Xbox Gold to play with other players online. Where do you think players are going to migrate to if they know they can get the same experience for free? I do see it possible for X360/Durage to have their own Destiny world and PS3/4 to have their own along with PC gamers. Cross platform seems to fit, but not cross brands.
