It's possible that there's an entity/personality/AI within the traveler that identifies as Joyeuse.

You can take Charlemagne's character and have a female represent that character without issue. Gender won't matter, considering how this is hundred of years in the future and the culture would have changed.

That isn't what I meant, I was drawing the similarity between the two; they are both in a position of power within a monarchy.
