Helping out the homeless? Giving people a place to stand? Doing good in this word? So long as it doesn't cost me a penny.
This mentality pisses me off. Why do people hate welfare? Because they have to chip in an extra ten or so dollars a month. God forbid you show some compassion. And yet we always toot the trumpet of "poverty is bad", and "goodwill toward all men on Earth". God, that's phony.
Anyone else agree?

It's good to give money to the poor through welfare programs. But welfare programs should only go so far. People shouldn't be aloud to just live off of the peoples' money, they should be working hard to provide for themselves. I don't think giving to the needy is wrong, but we should only go so far.
