So, the majority of atheists are very intellectual, correct?
And the majority of religious people are generally poor, humble and uneducated. Why is it that smart people are atheists and the not as smart are religious? Here's another question: All of the Mormon leaders, Jewish leaders very smart and yet the most religious? It seems with these religions the smarter you are, the more religious. The vast majority of the general authorities, quorum of the seventy, twelve disciples, and the prophet have graduated from very prestigious schools?(all of these terms are forms of leadership within our church)
I know this is confusing and I've pieced this together terribly but I guess what my question is why is it like this?
And yes I've made a lot of generalizations and I'm sure there's lots of smart religious people(that don't belong to these two religions) and dumb atheists. But these are just generalizations.

Religion was created to comfort people who did not know the future of what will happen to their body after dying. It is based completely on faith, and using faith as logic would be a very ignorant thing to do. Just look at how religion ruled over peasants during the middle ages. They were wooed in with the promises of "If you are poor, you will be treated rich in the kingdom of Heaven", or something like that. I'm religious to the point where I believe that there is a Supreme being, but he/she/it does not intervene directly with Earth or its inhabitants. I don't know what will happen to me when I die, but it will be comforting to have a cushion under my mind.
