Playing through Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the first time.

There was a mighty big learning curve for the first hour or so, but after I got into the flow of things, I can now see why this series has so many dedicated fans. I am loving every minute of it. I just got onto disc two (Comm Tower A), and am looking forward to finishing the game over the weekend! Simply out of curiosity: what do you guys think of the Metal Gear franchise? Gameplay? Story? Music? Favorite in the series?

  • MGS series is always good. 2 was a little heavy handed on the philosophical babble (Oddly enough I feel I 'get' that story now). I bought the HD collection during the Live sale (minus Peace Walker), and I'm enjoying the crap out of them all over again.

      • ^ Favorite game franchise ever. My favorite is a toss-up between MGS3 and Peace Walker. You should so totally get the HD Collection!

          • So how does everyone feel about that being the official new theme to the series? I'll miss the classic theme but I really like this new one.

          • It's one of my favourite franchises. I've played most of the games. I've completed all the Solid games (MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGSPO, MGS4 and MGSPW) except for the Twin Snakes. I've also played MG, MG2 and MGR:R, but I haven't completed them yet. My top 5 would probably be: 1. Metal Gear Solid 3 2. Metal Gear Solid 2 3. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker 4. Metal Gear Solid 5. Metal Gear Solid 4 I would definitely say MGS2 has the best music in the series.

            • Having played all the main games in the Metal Gear Solid franchise (haven't touched the PSP/PS Vita games like Portable Ops nor Peacewalker) I have always been a fan of the franchise. Some may say that Rising is bad and all, but I liked it, a lot (and that's coming from a guy that did not enjoy the second bit of Metal Gear Solid 2 that much). In order of preference I would have to say that my list is: -Metal Gear Solid (Nothing will beat it, ever) -Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Loved the survival (somewhat) aspect of the game and the Cold War setting) -Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance -Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty -Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

              • Metal Gear Solid was the game that got me into gaming, first time I completed it I was 4 and I have loved every other Metal Gear game that has come after that (well maybe not portable ops) I'm going to be getting the HD collection soon so I can be all nostalgic over it

                • The game is pretty good, having played the PS1 version first, the remake with the wacky Ryuhei Kitamura cut scenes didn't fit too well.

                • I like it. I like the lore and the story to it. I find it interesting that MGS3 and Peace Walker take place in the 60's and 70's, but they have tech that we don't have today. So I like how they did that past setting with future tech. The games I played are MGS: Portable OPS, MG: Acid 2, MGS: Peace Walker and MGS 3. I have MGS: 2, but I haven't played that yet. Gameplay: MG: Acid 2. MGS: 3. MGS: Peace Walker. MGS: Portable OPS. Story: MGS: 2.(Still haven't beating it yet, but I'm about 15 hours into it.) MGS: Peace Walker. MGS: Acid 2. MGS: Portable OPS.

Metal Gear?! Yeah, it's a pretty great series even if a little self-indulgent sometimes. In order of preference: 1. MGS3 2. MGS: Peace Walker 3. Metal Gear Solid 4. MGS2 5. MGS4 (best gameplay at times, but a disappointing story and lack of stealth) All are great games, just some are better than others. Haven't played Rising yet. Love the music of the series.
