Bungies new IP: Destiny, not to be confused by its predecessor Halo. Is about a group of physically/mentally enhanced super soldiers that have to fight off a diverse threat. The background is Humanity expanded making colonies until they met a cataclysmic event. Now you fight off diverse array of aliens working for the destruction of the last stronghold of humanity, slowly encroaching over human colonies. And there is a strange enigmatic higher alien species surrounded with awe and mystery whom you're not sure of the side of, but leave gigantic alien artifacts/weapons lying around.
Not to be confused with Halo.
Halo had flood.
Destiny doesn't.
Maybe.

Edited by Spartan Ken 15: 3/13/2013 12:00:29 AMLets look at Halo and Marathon: Rampant AI that guides you in missions? ✓ "Evil" aliens bent on destroying humanity? ✓ Super-human solider with somewhat mysterious origin? ✓ Ancient alien worlds and locations to explore? ✓ MA-75 assault rifle? ✓

destiny involves several species fighting for the power of ancient relics. some of which can time travel. there are robots and space ships and lands of ancient past to re-discover. your characters will level up and become more powerful as you progress by defeating many enemies. destiny is chrono trigger online.

Well, it's pretty easy to compare two things when you overgeneralize them both and make false comparisons to fill in the gaps. Most people would say that you can't compare apples to oranges, as they taste very different, have different textures and colors, and are eaten in two completely different ways. You would argue that they're practically the same thing because they're fruit and round.

Edited by Ianus: 3/11/2013 8:51:42 PMYes the traveler but that is just one being. Not an ancient advanced alien race that takes care of the universe. This is so much different than Halo it's insane.
-
Well, what did you expect? What would you say if the next Elder Scrolls was based in a Matrix-like universe, or if Fallout was set in a land recovering from magical fallout, and not radiation? I think it's better for everyone that Bungie stick to what they know and love. Besides, if they want to make sci-fi game, they'll be damned if they aren't going to make a sci-fi game.
slowly encroaching over human colonies
Well, according to all we know, there's no "slowly" about it. We're all but extinct. Destiny is about pushing out from near extinction. They's already got everything, and it happened pretty quickly.
-
Doesn't matter, great premise.
-
Hmmm we have the traveler which is a ball big enough to fit nicely through one of the Halo's..... now we have intergalactic basketball at a size for the Gods LOL.

Edited by Lord Keksworth: 3/11/2013 3:49:43 AMDon't forget the giant round alien object. But this is a sphere, not a hoop, so it isn't to be confused with Halo. Y'know now that I think about it Halo was just Marathon with a few changes and hella better graphics as well.
Halo had flood. Destiny doesn't. Maybe.
Isn't one of the races colloquially referred to as space zombies or something to that effect? I may not be remembering correctly.
-
It's going to be hard for Halo fans to not want to change Destiny into Halo. You can already see it scattered throughout this forum and on Halo specific forums on the confusion of what Destiny represents to them.
-
And Halo is different to Marathon, sure. When Bungie make a new FPS IP, don't expect setting to change that much.
-
There are space zombies not flood so its totally different... Seriously though I'd play new Halo's for the net ten years if Bungie is making them.
-
Derp space aleins R in Destiny N Halo?! dey r obvious teh same guise. That's you OP.

We already know this, good sir.
