Since Google makes tons of money off of ads, it "makes sense" that they wouldn't want to encourage users of their products/services to have tools to block those income-producing ads.
So far, this is limited to Android devices, but I could see Google attempting to render Chrome less capable of blocking ads. IMO, it's probably just a matter of time.
So much for "don't be evil", eh?

Everyone sees as much as an inconvenience ads are, but honestly even if you're not the audience they are looking for they are still finding people as their audience. It's a means that google has to take, so of course they are going to help themselves. It's google's 'product' if you will. So of course they are going to secure themselves on the subject.
