Apparently this woman didnt.
Richards was sitting in the audience immediately in front of two developers. After someone made a comment about forking a software repository, the two allegedly began making jokes about forking in a sexual manner and “big dongles.” After listening for some time, Richards got fed up, took a picture of the two, and posted it to Twitter:
So she gets offended by a vague joke, with subtle sexual innuendo, instead of saying something, she posts it on twitter, complains to the people running the con, and ultimately gets both the people fired. She is lauding herself for being courageous and doing such a great thing. Seriously, this is absurd, and she should be embarrassed about how she handled it, and the effects her complaining had. The comments were about objects at the conference, and in-between presentations these guys were just joking around. In no way was it directed at her. Well /b/ has taken notice, and is going after her as well. So what do you guys think about this, was it a drastic over reaction, or was she right in what she did? Personally i think its going to far, considering she makes jokes on twitter that are sexual in nature, and her last name is basically dicks. Im hoping she gets a huge backlash from this. If she wanted equality, she should have turned around, and asked them to stop talking about their small penises, at least act like an adult, and ask them to shut up. PS polls are here baby

 • What courage? She surreptitiously photographed the men without their consent and posted it to the Internet to let come whatever may. She confirms that much in her own tweet:
#ilearned that I don't have to prove that my feelings and experiences are valid. I share and let go of the outcome.
IOW: consequences be damned, why should I think about my actions first? Now two men are needlessly unemployed and she's on a power trip thinking she was courageous. Courageous? For what? Would it not have been more courageous to address the problem directly and personally by talking to the men and asking them not to joke in that way? From their responses to this incident, they seem like nice guys, and most likely would have granted her request. It might have even become a "teachable moment" for her, which would be far more instrumental in combating the sexism that she perceives as a problem. But, being a PR-type, she responded in a way that would garner maximum attention, rather than the one that would garner maximum results. And here we are. How sad.
