Apparently some guy in New Jersey posted a picture of his eleven year old son with a .22 caliber rifle that has an external shell to look like it's AR-15 style. (Of course this rifle doesn't function at all like an AR-15, I've seen them on sale at sporting goods stores and they're just plastic shells with no real function other than looks.)
Apparently some people saw the picture, got their butts burning mad and contacted the police about it because they were "scared for the child's safety".
No charges were filed, but the father says that authorities asked to see his weapons (wut?) and that he denied them because they didn't have a warrant.
The police are saying that it was nothing personal and that they didn't try to pressure their way into his home or impede on his rights.
I have no idea how to wrap my head around what was said in the article. I'd like to get more information about the interaction with the father and the police, but the article is quite bare on details, and no other news sources are of any help because they're all just copy and pasting the original article onto their sites.

Stupid anti-gun people are stupid. And stupid pro-gun people are stupid. I'm Canadian, no semi-automatic rifle with a magazine larger than five rounds. It really hinders the fun you can have shooting.

old news bro.
-
well it got a good laugh out of me... i think some people just need to have better judgement.
-
He seems to be fine to me. Pointing gun away from person(s), finger off the trigger, I imagine that the safety is on, and it appears that the magazine might be empty. I see no danger at all.

I just find it funny how people think a kid holding a gun of any kind means his safety is at risk. If his father is around, then he's fine.
-
Okay, so, the kid is simple holding a gun, and it is bad?

Edited by Spartan Ken 15: 3/27/2013 11:12:28 PMI see nothing wrong with the kid having the gun if he was trained by his father on how to properly handle it. Big Government has convinced the sheeple guns are evil. It is probably good he knows how to handle a firearm in case someone tries to break into the home and his parents are not there.

Sorry. Can't take NJ seriously. Too many wackos in that area.
-
Why would you need a shell for a rifle? That's like making a screwdriver look like a wrench. It's a tool for killing people, not a toy.
-
The flaw in our country is that people can cuase things to happen without thinking.

Don't worry about looking into the story. The news does it for you. =)
