First, thank you for coming in here. I'll get back to talking about you soon enough.
Five years. Soon that will be a quarter of my life and it's hard to believe it has really been that long. I know that some of you have been a slave here long enough to actually get benefits and some of you are far more committed fans than I could ever dream of being, but I feel like each of us has a unique thing that we bring to the table.
I know I said today is my five year anniversary here but I, like many before and after me, started out as a lurker. It wasn't until after I saw this great image while playing Halo 3 that I realized these Bungie guys (and gals) were pretty funny. As if I needed another reason to join the community, 2008 was the first year that the Ninjas created their own April Fool's Day prank and I knew that if a handful of people could be this funny and interesting in small numbers, they could be great as a whole group. Obviously, I wanted in.
Before ODST was announced, before Schadenfreude, before the Legendary map pack, even before the Waaambulance, I became a part of this great community. I lived through the end of the Frankie-era updates, the entire lukems and Ske7ch eras, and the urk-era. Now we are here with a very gracious host, DeeJ. I've seen members come and go, especially with the most recent update of Bungie.next, but when one great member logs out for the last time, another one joins up for the first. We always have a great group here and that leads me back to all of you.
As I said earlier, all of you and your predecessors are the reason I joined Bungie.net. I have to make a point to call out three of you that helped me out in various ways when I first showed up. Though you may not remember it, Hylebos, burritosenior, and Helveck, you really were my role models in how someone should present themselves on Bungie.net and for that, I thank you. As for the rest of you all, many people have left far before the five year mark and I could have joined that group but it was all of you that kept bringing me back.
So I guess the theme of my five year reflection is just a simple "Thank you." Those of you who know me, know that I constantly use quotes from Shakespeare's The Tempest to put words to something I can't explain. With a slight modification, I think this applies yet again:
Be not afeard. The isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not,
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices
That, if I then had waked after long sleep,
Will make me sleep again, and then, in dreaming,
The clouds methought would open, and show riches
Ready to drop upon me, that when I waked,
I signed in to dream again.
Thanks again for making this such a great home!

Congrats. I also tip my hat to you sir, very few people remember the Frankie era. I still remember those days, they were awesome.
