Look at the Banners :)
Probably not thread worthy, but I thought it was an amusing detail that I haven't seen people talk about. This makes the second faction we've seen in concept art, I'm pretty sure most people caught the New Monarchy flags in the Hangar.
Edit: Antony says there's a FWC Symbol on the next banner after that... clearly I am good at spotting these things >_<
Edit: Dead Orbit is a Ship Building Foundry. Cmon guys, that info has been out on the web for almost two months, how did we not pick up on this >_>

Edited by SkilPhil: 4/9/2013 11:13:41 PMDead Orbit might not necessarily just be a foundry. If there are Factions I imagine there are faction hubs where things like hangars, ship building foundries, barracks and other social areas are all under the same banner. Like there's probably a New Monarchy and Osiris ship building foundry too.....maybe with a few unique customisations to make each Faction easier to spot.

Edited by Ghost593835: 4/11/2013 10:16:12 PMso dead orbit is just an company. not an faction. oh well then im out of dead orbit then edit never mind

Hey hey, nothing wrong with being in charge of all the hot rides!

Edited by ToxicruM: 4/7/2013 4:11:38 AMhttp://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-17-destiny-bungie-unveils-its-shared-world-shooter I don't know if this has been posted before but in the article it is mentioned that Jason Jones black scout ship is made by Dead Orbit Foundries.
Here Staten meets Jason Jones, who plays as a Titan class, described as a "serious, straight up soldier". He's wearing a Vanguard plate. Staten is a Warlock class, a magic user of sorts. Jason greets Joe with an emote and both players head for the hangar. Here we see Jason's space ship, a black scout class built by the Dead Orbit Foundries.
This along with the New Monarchy hangar concept art leads me to believe that both Dead Orbit and New Monarchy are some kind of ship building corporations while Seven Seraphs and Osiris are orders dealing with the travelers power. Of course this is all speculation and can be completely wrong.

Edited by Guru: 4/9/2013 10:07:53 PMHow are the factions going to be in this game. It isn't an MMO. Are the factions for aliens or what? Edit: Never mind.
-
Wow? That's pretty cool.
-
The other factions better have one too. Otherwise a lot of people are going to find themselves unable to leave Earth because Dead Orbit owns all the spaceships :/
-
Maybe companies are ruling the Last City (like in Deus Ex) and every faction actually is a company that tries to get more influence and the upper hand in the Last City. This would be interesting.
-
The question is does Dead Orbit make all the ships or do each factions have their own ship building facilities?
-
I knew those Dead Orbit dogs were capitalist pigs.
-
So Burrito is basically the front man for a space ship company now? This is going to be interesting.
-
Still... Nice to look at it again. Thanks for the heads up.
-
So do we have to buy our ships from Dead Orbit? Well I better contact one of the resident Dead Orbit guys to get my ship tricked out.
-
That logo looks a bit different to the one we usually see, but probably because it's concept art. FWC logo on the next banner along too.
-
The best orbit has been found.

Edited by Plain Ben: 4/8/2013 12:06:24 PMIn my mind, these are Faction HQs, factions that aren't hostile and more similar to many different Knight Orders in the Crusades. Possibly faction-specific quests are assigned here, along with faction specific shops for guns, armor and ships. It could even be a matchmaking hub to find players to go out into the world with. I imagined in this huge city there is a Training Holodeck to explain the competitive multiplayer (and well it would explain a situation where the last humans on earth are trying to kill eachother).
-
We were way off then.
-
Dead Orbit ships are the best ships!
-
This is all leading me to believe all the factions we know about are manufacturing companies. I also think that FWC and FOTC might be different branches of the same company.
-
Not to sound dumb, but where did you find this piece? I'm always on the hunt for new Destiny imagery.
-
Edited by Kickimanjaro: 4/7/2013 3:55:21 AMThey all seem quite heraldic... I like where this is going. We are knights defending humanity, and we are the last. I think that these symbols are not exactly for factions but rather cities (like New Mombasa in the Halo series). Eh, just a thought... Dead Orbit is best orbit
-
Edited by SkilPhil: 4/7/2013 2:47:21 AMMaybe factions are an excuse to tie in competitive multiplayer into the story. Could be some sort of Arena.
-
Ah, it seems the competition has revealed itself!
-
oh i thought those were above the influence posters drugs are bad
-
I like how they just keep teasing factions, but have literally said nothing about them. The anticipation is building...
-
Hope dogs appear in Destiny.
