Mythic Sci-Fi, since some type of "magicesque" powers will be ingame. So I'd rather compare it to steampunk which is the fantasy version with crude technology often based on magic or steam. Here is is based on energy, spacehips and blasters paired with some mystic power. Mythic Sci-Fi!

It's Mythic Sci-Fi that's there main genre. You can expect some places to be more medieval others more Sci-Fi.

Science Fantasy.

Edited by Pfhortnite: 4/8/2013 11:46:53 PMMythical Science Fiction, so technically none of the above.

Anyone who says "Medieval" or "Sci-Fi" has no idea what they're talking about. It's been described by Bungie as a "shared open world shooter".

What isn't Destiny going to be?
-
An MMOFPS. That is all.

Bungie is calling it Mythic Sci-Fi. It's an interesting genre combination, and I'm really curious to see how they blend it. However they do it, I'm positive I will love it!

A video game made by Bungie.

They said it's going to be both, they said that for sure. So idk why anyone would say medieval or sci-fi. P.S. They're trying to make it fantasy not medieval. There may (and probably will) be medieval aspects but it's just fantasy in general.
-
I think you mean Fantasy, friend. They're aiming for a bit of both, with more Sci-Fi up front.

epic thats what

Edited by Charlemagne: 4/6/2013 2:18:19 AMIt isn't going to medieval, it is going to be a Mythic Sci-Fi Action Adventure Open World Social First Person Shooter (with third person implemented at certain times). Medieval relates to the Middle Ages or something old fashioned and primitive (the Bronze Age would be the latest). Destiny is in no way Medieval, you are probably just getting it mixed up with (mythic) Fantasy style games. It does draw from the time period in some ways (all aesthetic or governmental so far) but that doesn't make it Medieval.

Bungie described it as "Mythic Sci-Fi", which is a genre they kind of made up themselves. While I'm expecting it to be more heavy on the Science-Fiction side, I think I'll be pleasantly surprised with how they managed to capture the mystery of straight up fantasy.

You watch the GDC? Bungie said both.
