Explaining Prom to non-Americans
First off, what is Prom, how does it work? Is it just a school dance, or something more?
Second, what does it represent? What is the social structure of Prom? Why is it such a big deal?
Third, is it really only in America? We don't have Prom where I live, but in England? Scandinavia?

It's just the same as a leavers do at the end of year 11. Also I know schools in my area that have proms for 11 year olds, I am not kidding and im English
