What would you change?
Me? "One nation under any God"
-
How come the Pledge is a daily thing? Is our support of our country reset when we go to sleep? We should only have to say it once.

-
I wouldnt change it at all.
-
i think i hate you. like seriously.
-
We don't need it.
-
"One nation under the Danger Zone!" Danger Zone.
-
I'd just get rid of it. I don't even say it anymore in school.
-
I would get rid of the whole bloody thing! It's a pointless waste of time.
-
Get rid of the whole silly thing.
-
Another athiest thread -_-
-
I'd change it to this.
-
I would make it a tribute to brownies. Brownies are much more worthy of an anthem.
-
"I pledge allegiance to the flag" The end.
-
Honestly, I'd rather an official pledge not exist at all. If people wish to make a pledge to a flag and/or a government. They can make their own pledge and cite their pledge on their own time.
-
Edited by Arky: 4/11/2013 1:55:53 AMI would eliminate it from being used before a certain grade. We force kids to pledge allegiance when they have no idea what they are saying.
-
as an atheist the under god part doesn't bug me in the slightest. I have never really said it anyways

Edited by M37h3w3: 4/11/2013 1:14:02 AM
What would you change? Me? "One nation under any God"
Why, as an agnostic/atheist, do I have to bow to the irrational belief that there is a God? Remove the entire "Under God" part. It was added during the Cold War to demonize the Communists and has no bearing. Hell it's arguable to remove the Pledge of Allegiance in it's entirety since it's a form of brainwashing and indoctrination.

Edited by Camnator: 4/11/2013 1:35:51 AMI like the way it was originally written. Also, what if you believe in no deity? I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
-
Take out "God", and keep it how it was before Truman came in: "One nation, indivisible."
-
Edited by OvoZ Daycare: 4/11/2013 1:07:28 AMthe word 'indivisible' because it doesn't stand the test of time. Op is proof. btw, what would you replace 'under God' with? because you can't just say 'One nation, indivisible' sounds stupid
-
I knew exactly what kind of thread this was before I entered it.
-
Make sure it stays as a not mandatory pledge. Take out any mention of a deity.
-
Probably nothing because I don't give a -blam!- about it and it's lost all meaning when you make kids recite it on a daily basis. It's just words I've memorized (now in two languages) that I say to start my weekdays. Nothing more. It's not actually a pledge of allegiance.
-
Don't make me say it in school, other than the first day. It's just really -blam!-ing pointless.
