It looks like a number of weapons are to gain a damage boost in the next Halo 4 update. The DMR shall no longer dominate the battlefield it seems.
Something did catch my eye in the article however: including the Warthog and Mantis chain-guns. How well do you think this will go down if these two are having their chain-guns given more punch?

I appreciate that they are trying to balance the game but I think they are doing it wrong. I did enjoy the 4sk BR but the reason it was balanced was because there was very little aim assist with it. So yes you could have fast kill times but that was only the case with skilled players, whereas with those not so it was not that fast. Halo 4 has the most aim assist overall of any halo game (I believe). Because of this increase of aim assist and also in bullet magnetism I feel that the BR is going to become OP. I know the "pro's" say that they use it all the time and things are great with it but they are only using BR's. With an increase to the BR's power it appears that it is going to dwarf the other weapons. I myself use the BR all the time and I am able to compete and win against DMR users (the DMR remains broken regardless). Now if I am able to kill on burst faster with the BR then I believe the gun will be OP or at least feel so in my hands. The other issue it runs into is that the other guns will be diminished as well. With the one less shot to kill on the carbine it is a good buff but again I feel the BR will be able to beat it. Also the light rifle will only be receiving a range increase so it will become useless against the BR with the one being a 5sk and the other being a 4sk while both have the same RoF. With the automatics I think that they are good the way they are now. They fit the role of a cqb weapon very nicely and I don't think they need a damage buff. But oh well, it is slight overall. In terms of the vehicles I really don't think 343 understand whats broke here. So, overall I don't see this TU as a good thing. If anything I see it as breaking Halo 4 further. The problem is that 343 industries is ignoring the elephant in the room. Halo fans want halo, not just a halo look alike but a game that plays like halo. That means arena style gameplay. Start on even ground and work for advantages, not score a bunch of assists and get a rocket while I got a killing frenzy and got a needler for it. I honesty don't care if they pushed there new gametype but do it in its own playlists, don't remove the core of Halo for your new stuff. I would be happy at this point just to have one playlist with arena style gameplay.
