Soldering Tips
I am about to start Soldering for the first time. Any tips before I start? I am going to desolder and I don't have a desoldering pump, any alternatives? Is a glass desk safe to solder on?

Tin it if its a new iron or a really old dirty one. Heat it up thouroughly. And clean it after you're done.

This is one of the few times I wouldn't recommend touching tips.
