so the thread is locked, i don't consider it a raid, and i can't really express how i feel about this without sharing the link. It's just...WHAT!!!!!
People with this mentality EXIST?! I thought I was one of the only people in that thread advocating in the favor of BASIC Human Rights!
But apparantly MULTIPLE people in that thread have the belief that torture should be applied as a punishment/deterrent.
"Okay you committed this crime so your punishment is 50 lashings". That mentality. People want that to happen not only to the marathon bomber, but to society in general. They want to "send a message". What the hell. so...maybe theres something there i can't grasp. Maybe there's something i'm missing. and I really, really want to understand these people and the logic going in in their head.
So I will ask the flood: With your analysis, what do you think? Do you support anything said about torture? Should the marathon bomber, or anyone, be tortured as a punishment? To send a message?

Edited by Zizzy: 4/20/2013 2:42:57 PMCrucify him! Crucify him! Seriously though, this pretty much sums up my opinion:
The dude's an american citizen, and just a kid at that. I'm seriously starting to question the sanity of the active people on this forum when you have to defend not wanting to see another human being tortured or killed against said people. It's shocking really
If he committed acts of terrorism, yes torture the person, he/she dosn't fall under the Geneva convention or civilian law, but only after a trail with an international court that finds him/her guilty.
-
No. Torture should be reserved for the absolute worst of the worst. Someone like Heinrich Himmler. A confused and heavily influenced 19 year old doesnt deserve torture.
-
It is absolutely never acceptable to torture someone.
-
Tortured? no. Throw him to the wolves in some max security prison? Sure why not.

If he is going to be killed then there is no need for torture. Either give him life in prison or execute.
