700 years ago, the Church had ultimate power and the scientists had to do everything to quiver and stay unnoticed from it.
Now, the scientists are hurting the church's power legally, and it has to issue new "reinterpreations" of the Bible to appease them.

Edited by Chad Quibs : 4/23/2013 12:20:58 AMYep, scientists are lining up religious folks and putting them in laser guillotines.

Tell me, how do scientist persecute the church? Showing that the bibble is wrong is hardly persecution...

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 4/23/2013 12:22:57 AM
700 years ago, the Church had ultimate power and the scientists had to do everything to quiver and stay unnoticed from now.
700 years ago, science was done by the religious. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that science and religion are mutually exclusive. Churches started universities, hospitals, and charities, and the big bang theory was first posited by a monk. Does the mainstream church take a while to adapt to new science, even when it was discovered by the church? Of course; the points is that it does adapt.

Edited by DeadliestDragon: 4/22/2013 4:10:04 AMThere isn't any form of science on this earth that I know of, that people would die for, suffer for, and do anything and everything to preserve. You should read up on the history of the Bible and how many people gave their lives to get it to the masses.

Sorry... I just had to...

How are scientists persecuting the church? At most you get people like Dawkins talking shit, but that's a far cry from persecution. Look, you are religious, I respect that. But your faith does not mean you are above criticism. It doesn't trump other's opinions, nor their right to express them. Expressing a negative opinion isn't persecution.

Edited by Y SO REACH BETA: 4/23/2013 1:47:14 AMYou really have no idea what you're saying. Have you considered that perhaps the scientists aren't trying to persecute them at all and are encouraging rational thinking to develop a realistic world view and that denying evolution is perhaps pants on head retarded?

i like how despite this 'persecution', Christianity is still the most powerful force in America, second only to money.

The Church is based on lies. Thats why they are failing
-
They are proving facts that are correct. nothing else. They are doing science! :D

A whole lot of twentieth century physicists, (including those who discovered the Big Bang ironically) were religious, and on top of that I've never seen any modern scientists calling for sanctions on religion or the church. I think you're confusing the psuedo-science community with the actual science community. Also, atheists on the internet =/= scientists.

When priests, imams, rabbis and the followers of the faiths start to suffer the levels of brutality and torture on the levels of the Spanish inquisition, Crusades and actual purges...then we'll talk.

Edited by CrazzySnipe55: 4/22/2013 3:59:58 AMProof? e: Also, the church should have zero power legally. Any church.

You're what I think would happen if a corporation tried to make a troll. Regardless, Scientists aren't persecuting religion; science culture (pseudo intellectual hispters) persecutes religion because they've made science their religion (that's not what it's for), and want to appease it the only way they know how.
-
That's not ironic. Because scientists aren't persecuting the church. There are plenty of scientists that still believe in a Religion.
-
Seems right to me.
-
That's not ironic. I mean that, you are using the word ironic wrong.
