What does a game's soundtrack mean to you?

Do you think that soundtracks are so important that they make or break AAA games? Or do you think that soundtracks are an addtional extra to the game? I think they make or break AAA games such as Halo, CoD, Elder Scrolls, and Assassin's Creed. Examples 1. Halo (Never Forget) 2. CoD (Code of Conduct) 3. Elder Scrolls (Morrowind theme) 4. Assassin's Creed (Ezio's Family) 5. Destiny (I'm loving it so far) What's your opinion?

 • It really depends on what you're trying to do. If your game is all about the action, a soundtrack that complements it is good enough. If it's more about developing a certain style or atmosphere, music becomes more important. Either way, better music can't hurt a game. And when you do something special, it takes the game to a whole new level.
