Separate but equal is not equal. Its that simple. In the USA we had a Civil Rights movement that taught us a great many things. We learned how evil and how good we could be. The Gay Marriage issue falls in with civil rights. Are two men, adult and consenting, less than people because they wish to marry each other? Should they get special status simply for being who they are? If we keep a group separate, then they are not equal, they are made different. As long as they are different, they will be discriminated against. We have decided that discrimination is a bad thing, no to be condoned in any way. So, we either decide to be a discriminatory society, where we can make any group into the outsider, or we can be inclusive and allow everybody the same rights.
